My son James has been in the navy 4 years. This is first time hearing of the blue candle. I will definitely be lighting a blue candle in Lake city, Fl. in honor of him and all the other sailors. He will be deploying to Afghanistan in November. I will light it every day till he returns safely home.

Wow am so sorry has been so long since I have been on. Seems my family non military has kept me hopping ...have had one new grandchild, a differnent sons wedding and 1 reunion and then my hubby has had surgery and am now praying my life will get back to normal whatever that is. It is labor day weekend and am burning my electric blue candle out the room of my hubby's at the hospital...His two or three day in the hospital has run a little long and so maybe next week will be back on more often.. May God b less your families and your military family. God bless you all and keep those candles burning..Thankyou

I'll be lighting a blue candle in Broken Arrow, OK for my Son John who is a Submariner. Also for all his shipmates aboard the Key West. May the light shine bright to light their way.
God Bless our troops!

Good Morning. My son has enlisted, and will be going in on March .. I have already purchased my candles and blue bulbs. I gave my mother (his grandmother), his girlfriend, my neighbor and of course our home the candles. I was so excited to see the local craft store had them (the white candle base
( .battery operated, a electric or solar activated) to choose from. They only stocked a few double pack blue bulbs . I am going to go back to the store and see what they have in stock so I can make an arrangement to put on the window ledge with the candle. His birthday is in May, but the candle will remain on for all of our brave and sacrificing loved ones. The light shines on here in Deptford NJ

This is a great idea - thank you. My son, Jason, was an ET2 on the James K. Polk. He died March 16, 2001. My son, Mark, served on the John F. Kennedy, and my son-in-law, Mike, serves on the Harry S. Truman. Maybe I will light 3 blue candles for them.
