Tina -- James' mom

Anyone with a child leaving for Great Lakes the week of May 5?

My son is leaving for GL from Atlanta on May 7. I have no idea what time, flight, etc., yet. I was wondering if there is anyone else out there with a child leaving around that same time. They may end up together at GL. I'd love to have a "buddy" to go thru basic training with...lol.

Thanks Pam...i just keep thinkning about how "lonely" he said he is...I am SO glad that I found this site and you ladies to keep me going through all of this!!!! I cannot wait for the 1st letter. I have sent Nick 2 cards so far and have lots more ready to go...any ideas on what to send? thanks!!!
Nicole,
I am sending a card a day. Sometimes funny cards, sometimes serious cards. Sometimes I write a long letter, sometimes just a few words.
I have been collecting silly pictures (think wet cats), printing them and sending one a day. I'm looking for anything that will make him smile. I feel like I'm "recycling" all the dumb emails I get.
If you go to the forums home page and search for "Letter Ideas" I think that thread has been run a few times.
I don't think it's what you send, I think it's that you've sent something!

Done crying...for now.Wish I would get a letter though..I am a teacher & I have LOTS of kids who want to write!
have you called his recriuter Wendy? if not do it tom.... ask him for your childs address.
Wendy,

Call his recruiter. Some of them work on Sunday. If not, call first thing Monday morning. If he/she doesn't have it, there are numbers on this forum (just go back a couple of pages) for GL.

Good luck. Cry if you need to. Let us know his ship/division.

Welcome aboard!

I feel your pain. Lots of tears. If you get any news POST it...I am looking for info on the group that went in May 7, too. Thanks. Wendy
Wendy i got a letter from my son this past thurs and he got to gl on may 6th and he says it is a lot of hard work but everything is great ... I am so sure your child is doing great too.... just remember " NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS" in this situation at least ... if anything were to happen or go wrong you would know in a hurry ..... so just try to trust that.... that is what i keep telling myself.... and that and this board is what gets me through.
Hi my name is Carol and my son Tim left May 6th for boot camp still no letter or phone call from him I'am going crazy ::::::Div 236 Ship 7
Tim should graduate on June 27. They get writing time on Sunday so watch the mailbox on Tue, Wed or Thur, depending on where you live. As far as phone calls, they have to be earned, so that's anyone's guess.
where did this graduation date come from? June27
I got the information packet and his address
Thanks
