Tina -- James' mom

Anyone with a child leaving for Great Lakes the week of May 5?

My son is leaving for GL from Atlanta on May 7. I have no idea what time, flight, etc., yet. I was wondering if there is anyone else out there with a child leaving around that same time. They may end up together at GL. I'd love to have a "buddy" to go thru basic training with...lol.

Until I saw Vicki Bells name , I thought her comment was mine :)
Our sons must be in it together.

My Zach just started boot camp wed 5/7 - he called
from airport wed nite at 9pm to say they are not going to let him sleep
until 10pm thurs - then he called again at 11:30pm wed to say
he arrived and he is ok, and he loves us, and he cant talk.

My husband teared up when he dropped Zach off at the recruiting
station Tues.

Anyone know when we will be contacted by the Navy (or Zach) next ?

-Janet
Call his recruiter to get his Division and Ship info so you can start writing. From what I gather, we won't hear from them for several weeks.

PS When we all find out Div/Ship, please post so we'll know which of our kids are together. We need for them to be on the lookout for recruits who don't get a lot of mail, so we can all drop them a card now and then. I can't imagine being away from my family with any contact, but I know it happens.
Morning Everyone~

Janet~ No worries, I am still trying to figure out how and where to post/respond too and I have been on here a couple weeks. My Son also called from the airport and again once he got to GL and when he called from GL it was 1:22am their time so I figured they weren't going to be letting them sleep. With what your Son told you, now I know Andrew didn't sleep either!! Yikes!! You will get his box of cloths first w/his contract inside it and then hopefully the letters will start to come in. The box I believe takes about a week to arrive and almost 2 weeks for the letter.

Tina~ Do you think I should call Andrew's recruiter today and see if I can get any info out of him??? I guess I have nothing to lose by doing so, huh? :) :) :)

I am going to take my 2 yr old to swim lessons this morning and then a little *retail therapy* for our cruise to Alaska next week. I will be back on this evening.

Have a good day MOMS!
Well after the 30 sec phone call comes the box with his belongings he had when he got to gl and then comes the form letter. all that is is a letter stating what ship and div and extra information and so forth ..... as for phone calls i was told they only get to call if they do very good in boot and that will be in a minimum of two weeks to 4 weeks
Cody left Knoxville airport at 3:20 pm Eastern time on Wed May 7..... he call at 5:30 from Chicago
airport and then again at 9:30 saying he was at boot camp.....I asked him how it was and his answer was "it sucks" .... oh well...that's my son !!!! I'm afraid to ask him after about 2 weeks ... hahahaha
His recruiter said he should have his address in about 1 week and would give me a call to tell
me what it is. Cody signed up for ATF-HMT (HT) which is Advanced Technical Field Hull
Maintenance Technician..... welding and plumbing......
The box should arrive next week and then should get a call somewhere in the 2nd to 3rd week.....
My son left May 6. I got "the box" today, and cried of course. I hope i get his address soon cause the cards and letters are going to start piling up. I pray we all find out something soon!
I GOT AN ADDRESS!!! And I cried on the phone to the poor guy who gave it to me. I'm sure he thinks I'm a total FREAK, but I don't really care.

James' recruiter didn't have the info yet, but the folks at 847-688-2405 did.

He is Ship 6, Division 933.

All right, moms, light up those phone lines and let's see whose kid is with whose kid!!

tina
