Hi everyone!

Although I do not have a sailor graduating on the Fourth, I do have a sailor in GL on hold who will school up on Tuesday. He will be attending OS A school in GL. I will be out there on the 3rd of July to spend some time with him. I would love to meet you guys while I am there. Bryan and I will be attending the Fourth of July BBQ that I believe is sponsored by the MWR for the sailors and their families. I say the two of us will attend not knowing if Bryan will have duty or not at this point!

This is the website for the MWR. Take a look and see if anyone is interested! It sounds like fun! If you guys would like to meet up at the family event, let me know! I saw that you guys were talking about maybe having lunch together so I thought I would throw that out there!

The Navy Pier is another place where there is a lot of activity going on! I missed it the last time around, but will be hitting that Saturday night, July 5.

I have been waiting for someone to put up a group with the PIR 7-4-08! I hope that I am not intruding on your big day! Let me know if you guys are going to get together, I would love to join you! Also from what I have been reading...the date is not for sure and it might change? Keep me informed!

Take care!

The question seems to be July 3 or July 4. Thanks for the info. I, for one, would love to attend the family event. I feel very close to all these folks...just like family. A friend of mine (a psychologist) says that people who meet during times of great stress become "trauma bonded" and stay close for years. Unfortunately, we met while his son was dying the hospital where I work. I have stayed close to the family and it's been almost 10 years.

Please keep in touch.

It is my trick of the trade also! I have many trauma bonded friends!

I am glad to see you guys are having a great time on the site! It has been a great source of strength for me! Bryan is my third child to leave the house and venture out on his own! For some reason this one was a little more than go to college pang of pain! With a little bit of self talk and a lot of NFM's I am now standing on the other side and it feels great! I hang out with therapist s all day so that did not hurt either! But...the good news is..I talk with Bryan almost daily. He loves what he is doing and proud to do it! I say this with the ironing and cleaning of toilets in mind! Could not find the iron when he was home, but went and bought a new one after PIR! Then there was my call the other day about the laundry! He says..what kind of soap do I use on colored clothes? I say what do you have? He goes on to read me the back of the bottle of ALL. I stop him and say that is fine. The next thing I know....he texts me the bottle of all with the caption...ARE YOU SURE? I about fell over! He is a nut! I am enjoying his new adventures!

I hope that you find PIR as wonderful as I did. A moment that I will forever treasure!

I am so excited I could just BUST and we're only at the end of week one! My blog today is about the difference between sending them off to college and sending them off to bootcamp:

I am hoping and praying that my child just learns to pick up his dirty underwear off the floor. I'll worry about ironing later!!

Thanks for the encouragement.

Dear Steve's Mom,

I am trying really hard to produce a database for our PIR date. I think Steve is in that group. Three questions:
1. Do you have a real first name or is the name on your birth certificate "Steve's Mom?"
2. What ship/division is Steve in?
3. Does Steve have a birthday or other important event during bootcamp. We were all going to send cards on that day.

Shell,

You are one of the people who posted the most informative stuff when I was a navyformoms newbie! I actually feel honored to talk to you.

I have not seen the commercial, but I would love to. What do you think the chances are of my son's recruiter allowing me to put up a navyformoms flyer (just a regular size sheet of paper) in the office so other moms don't wander around in a fog until they find this site accidentally?

Have a GREAT time at PIR.

Tina why dont you go into your power point or word program and make up some bussiness cards for navy for moms.... I know absolutely nothing about those programs..... I could try and maybe help some but that is what i would do and take them to the local recruiters office .....
