Navy For Moms

For some strange reason most of our kids have a bad case of bronchitis during boot camp (some turn into pnuemonia). Is it related to the vaccines or some strange bug that won't leave that base? It strikes me odd that a perfectly healthy kid can get that sick. It would be interesting to hear from anyone else who's perfectly healthy child caught this "bug".

I know people die from staph. It's usualy MRSA, which infects a wound that is already there. Very common in elderly, people with diabetis, and very common among young people who share close contact. When young healthy people get it is most likely a skin thing. When they die it is most likely because they have a hidden immunity problem and or they don't get health care.

This makes no sense to me - why does your daughter have to wait until she classes up before she can seek medical help? I would think the Navy wants everyone healthy and provide medical attention as people need it.

I wish I could tell you. I don't understand either. Thats pretty much why I started this post. She called me this past Sunday and was allowed to see a Dr. today. They think she has walking pnuemonia. Which is pretty upsetting to me, because it has been a month now. When she was sick at GL, they were only concerned about her fever. Once the fever broke they weren't worried. Then they gave her an inhaler to help her breath. No antibiotics at all. They didn't test her to find out what organism or take chest X-rays that any good Dr. would do.

Its called the ricky crud. It seems that is related to the vaccines as they are shot with all sorts of virus, etc.

As far as I know Cory hasn't gotten sick during Basic. If he has then he hasn't shared it with me. It also makes no sense to me why different branches of the military receive different vaccines. Of cource if the enlisted person is deployed or stationed out of the US they will receive additional vaccines (the list of vaccines for my oldest when he was deployed was crazy!), however as new recruits I would think all service men/women would have the same.
