We are ok in Palestine, had a lot of wind and rain, but no damage here. Our neighbors had a tree fall across their driveway, but no permanent damage. Lynn, I hope the water doesn't rise anymore-hope you all stay safe and dry!
it's going down. Lots of water in both cars. House smells like fish. I will never underestimate shop vacs again. I have learned that siphoning gas taste bad.Gas used to be leaded. I would have died. Good think the electricity was off only briefly. I think that a 50 cc syringe would hellp the suctions. I will learn.
Well, it 5:55 pm and we just got our power back on. We have had steady winds at 45-50 mph and gusting to 75.
Sheets of rain..we are under a tornado watch and a flood warning..but looks like maybe the worst is over for us unless this is the calm before the BIGGIE....lots of limbs of different sizes down but we are ok..so we thank God for that.
Bill and I were down at the local Walmart tonight. (yeah, I know real exciting Saturday night)And there were 2 buses of Army guys getting all kinds of stuff to take with them. They were being deployed to Texas and other troubled areas. I just had to wish them well and thank them.
Well... I hope these guys don't have to ride the buses that took them to walmart, They look like old school buses. I had to laugh because most of them were buying portable fans and I thought that most of the places they would be going to would be with out power.... LOL
I wonder if they stay at the Naval Station? And I wonder if it has power? Wouldn't they have emergency back-up power? I read somewhere that all the non-essential personnel and families were evacuated from the base.
