It's beautiful here this morning..Low 70s and sunny...Other than losing a rose bush and some limbs everything is fine here..

So finally we have power in Houston. Galveston is literally under water )0: which was like a second home. Ike did make a lot of damage in our area, a lot of fallen trees, brick walls, signs, and stuff you would never think of. Thankfully in my area everyone is fine....

My friends just got INSIDE my house!!! ABSOLUTELY NO DAMAGE!!! I do not have whirly birds - I had ridge vents!!
Will still be without electricity for three or four weeks - extra summer vacation!!
The area where I teach school is really underwater - probably will be awhile!!

Glad to hear you are ok! Do you know how Anna Colleen "weathered" the storm!

Anna Colleen just called. She got 4 or 5 inches of water in her house (that is up on piers)!!!
The puppies are fine and her roof is intact!!!
Did not get to talk too much - bad connection!!

Glad to hear she is okay!!

Brenda, does Anna live near you?? Our water is finally going down. Can't figure out how worms get in the house. Car smells like fish. Tucson is looking good, but I will be too tired to walk. Glad that your home is ok. But no electicity? Do you have a way to keep food cold?

Don't worry about walking, Lynn. I think Molly and I (me for sure) will be holding the pool furniture down while the "real women" walk......lol

Wish there was something I could do to help you. That's weird about the worms coming in. I would think the wood would swell with the water. Fireplace?

Colleen lives about 20 miles from me - headed towards to Houston not Louisiana. The area where she lives flooded because it is lower. I don't know about fish or worms - did not get to talk to her very long.
She is probably headed to her daughters down south tomorrow.

Oops, left that comment while logged in under my "other" image - it is REALLY TOUGH to share computers with another active Navy mom!!

Colleen got a foot of water in her home - no flood insurance!! What she does not get out today will probably be lost due to mold growing so fast in our wonderful southeast Texas heat and humidity!!

She went down today but was having an issue finding food - I don't know why she did not bring some in with her - but she didn't!!

You need to come to Tucson early and celebrate!! Or buy a generator.....
