Blue Candle Lighting on Christmas Day. Several have asked,,, is there a special blue candle? No
Several have asked how many days and how long.? The burning of the candle length is determined by the one lighting the candle.

Once, again this lighting of the blue candle represents the sailors, recruits and military that will not be joining their families during the holidays. This being done because we want to remember the families that are seperated. Some of our children and spouses are coming home and some are not so let us all remember the great sacrifice our men and women do in the service of our country.
Remember any kind of candle will do ,,,blue electric or wax. We thankyou and if you want to comment please do.. also RSVP your attendance if you are doing so in the Events.

Abigal,,,you can light a blue candle anytime you want. This initially was in a discussion on a group. One mom said her son was not coming home and I told her I would light a candle on Christmas day at noon and burn it all day to honor her sailor and her and the other mothers who with servicemen gone of Christmas day. It took off and mothers stated they would burn it Christmas Day and some said everyday. The whole thought was to remember that on this Holiday some would still be on duty and parents spouses and kids would not have them home.. Burn your candle....as long as you like,,,on the days you like and what size you want or how many you want...It is the thought of someone being honored that is important all else is up to each and every one... We just wanted a way to say..WE REMEMBER AND THANKYOU FOR YOUR SERVICE AND TO HONOR THEIR FAMILIES... As you could say like Burger King...Have it your way... there is no right or wrong way to honor them... God Bless and Thankyou

We will be lighting a blue candle here in Palestine, Texas in honor of our son, Patrick, who will not be able to come home for Christmas. He is a corpsman with a Marine Fleet Anti-Terrorism Support Team in Rota, Spain. We miss you, son.

This is such a great idea. I have never heard of it. I am going to buy my blue candle today. My son is overseas on his very first deployment. This is his first Christmas that he will not be home since he joined the Navy. Thank you for this candle idea. I will pass this information on to all my friends and family.

I love this idea. I will be burning my blue candle in Metolius Oregon...
With all the other military services being remembered someone forgot the Coast Guard...how 'bout a orange candle for them? An orange candle will join my blue candle. My other son is enlisting in the Coast Guard after the first of the year....
