My son is in CA, doing his A school for SWCC he has his first PST today but
both is knee's are messed from running in the sand with his boots on.

What happens if he does not pass his 1st PST, and what can he do about his knee's? He is so upset, he wants this so bad.

That depends on his CO. Unfortunately, you have to be able to work & run in any condition. Lives depend on it! I am sure they will do everything possible to help him through. If it comes to him having to go another direction, he maybe able to try again at another time. My son was working with the SEALS in our area, they were seeking him out unbelievably. He chose SWCC over SEAL but thanks to the recuiter he did neither yet. He explained that they are both the Elite in the military but what will happen if he gets hurt, what does he have to fall back on? My son agreed, he is AA AE and loves it. After this deployment he will reapply for SWCC and can go in with the knowledge and knowing if he gets hurt (g-d forbid) he will not be stuck as a grunt or a desk job.

My son hurt his knee while waiting to class up running in the sand and they did get him physical therapy. He was just cleared before his class started and made it to week 3. The 2nd brick tread of the day did him in. His legs cramped up and I am sure he did lose some conditioning/leg strength while rehabing. He was 8 left of 37 then after a few more weeks that class went to 6 and was frozen. I am thankful that he did not damage his knee as he pushes himself to the limit. He is now going CTR and knows that he needs to get better in the water if he wants to try SWCC again. The training has been intesified and is very difficult! My son had the highest respect for his CO's and this will be an important factor in him trying again in the future! It is a great relief knowing that he has another great job opportunity that will be there for him without the constant worry of him getting hurt. Best wishes to your son! We should be proud of all of the young men who work hard to attempt SWCC and SEAL!

Did your son DOR? How did he come about getting his new job? I am so glad your son has a good job opportunity. I am so worried that if my son DOR that he will be cleaning the deck for the rest of his NAVY life.
This is the first time I have worried about hiim.

Thanks for your reply

Paula, there is nothing wrong with a desk job or any other job in the Navy, they all play a part in whatever they do or whatever branch they serve. Some people dont mind desk jobs and maybe some prefer them.
So maybe not everyone is cut out for the SEALS, or SWCC, in my opinion they all play a big important just for serving.
Just my opinion, and this needs no response.
