I live in the Klein/Champions area. My son leaves for BC Feb. 5, so I have been a bit of lurker here trying to get up to speed on all things Navy. So glad to see so many Houston area Moms!

I'm from Lufkin--not to very far from Houston. As a matter of fact--we took Chad to the airport yesterday. He had 10 days leave. First time home in a year. It was wonderful having him home again and hard to say goodbye again. We are so very proud of him and the community so supportive when they saw him home. Would love to be included in the get togethers.

Me, too. I'm in Kingwood, now part of Houston, north of Humble. My son is currently in boot camp, due to graduate on the 9th of January!

Hello all ~ My name is Molly and I live in Oregon BUT a real real good friend of mine Brenda Sue lives in texas !!
I have a favor to ask anyone this morning (and I know this is very short notice) BUT my friend Brenda Sue is at Bush International this morning waiting for her sailor to fly in and she is alone (her family was all busy and couldnt go with her) ANYWAY if someone lives close by and wouldnt mind going to Bush International and getting a picture of this wonderful Momma welcoming her son home I would be very thankful. She had this set up to have freinds and family there, but he misssed his flight last night and now she is all alone.
Please Pm me if this is possible and I will give you all the flight info ----I dont want to post it for lookie-loo's to see (safety first) I will stay online all morning in case someone can PM me :)
Once again Thank you everyone for even trying to accomplish this for her. If y'all dont know her SHE is a wonderful, loving, caring good person.
Love to all
Molly

haha - The "hoops we had to jump through" to get Molly to join Texas' Moms!! She KNOWS that she has been wanting to join for quite a while!!

I just wanted to be sure that everyone knew that ANNA COLLEEN (my dear sister) was MORE than willing to go with me!! After all the troubles yesterday and already possibly more today (he thought he was going to miss his flight this morning - but the lady at the check-in desk called the plane and they held it for him!!)
I just did not want to bother Anna Colleen again.
I would have LOVED to get a "first hug" picture - but it just did not work out this time!!
I hope there will be many more "first hugs" to get pictures of!!!
Both of my sisters are finishing up their houses (one just built a new one and Anna Colleen's got destroyed in Ike) and had things already planned for today!!

Dearest LynnDear and Miss Molly,
I am sad about the mix up with accompanying Brenda Sue to the airport. (I had thought she'd have one of Derek's friends there and when she told me today Derek's flight plans had changed I'd believed that she would want the time alone with Derek if his friends couldn't be there.) BUT next time she goes to the airport, to take him back or to pick him up, I will only miss the ride along if I am sick, in the hospital, or dead....(I hope it's not the dead one)
As you know, Brenda Sue is Miss Independant and I do want to be there if she needs or wants me. When I went to Chicago with her for PIR I didn't tell her I was going to go until I'd already bought the ticket. I was a bit of a burden on her shoulders but she loves me anyway and I hope she was glad that I'd tagged along... I wouldn't have missed it for the world. I was so proud of Derek and the tears were flowing. I was actually able to control the heart-rending sobs and so I hope I didn't embarrass her. Thank you, Brenda Sue for telling our friends that I didn't let you down...it was all just a misunderstanding.
my hugs and prayers for all of my dear Navy for Moms friends. I am honored to be a small part of ya'll
Colleen

I live in The Woodlands, TX. My son Justin leaves this Monday to go to GL for bootcamp. What a ride the last 6 months have been with him in the DEP program. It is all coming to a head with the full gambit of emotions going on in the house this week. Justin went and got his hair buzzed off yesterday and is packing his backpack (not so much to pack really) in preparation for leaving. It is comforting to know all of the moms around the Houston area that have gone through or will be going through the same experiences as my family. Jennifer
