Hello Midland!...I know how you feel, when we had to leave my daughter in Great Lakes after PIR it was hard and we cried but I knew that she wld be home soon, and I knew she was doing something that she wanted to do and that it was for herself and her daughter..so you hang in there and he will be back in your arms in no time..

I had no idea there were so many from this area! I honestly thought I was the only one! So what are your sailors training for or what do they do for the Navy? My son is training to be a CTM.

I used to live in West Texas -- I lived in Lubbock and Big Spring. But now I live in Euless between Fort Worth and Dallas. I attended Texas Tech University, moved to Big Spring and lived there five years while working at the Big Spring Herald newspaper. Then I left the state for a year. Then, I returned to Lubbock when my husband enrolled in Law School at Texas Tech. While we were there for Law School, I worked for the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal and the Texas Tech Home Economics Curriculum Center.
My sailor son was a toddler and preschooler back then. Now he is about to be 23. He just moved to Pensacola for A School, too, but I don't think it will start until February or March. Oh, he also "attended" or lived at Texas Tech for a year after high school graduation. 2004-2005. He wasn't ready for college then. So the only times I have returned to Lubbock since moving to Fort Worth was around that time: to visit the campus, attend Freshman Orientation, drop him off for college and take him back for spring semester.
