Margaret, I used to live in Midland. My son Clay YN2 was also stationed at Port Hueneme. He was with NMCB3. Clay was deployed to Guam, Okinawa, & Iraq while with this unit. What unit is your son with?

I'm a Navy mom and I live in Amarillo, my son is stationed in Norfolk Va. he graduated for G.L. in august. I just wanted to say hello and welcome to N4M.

wow this is great so many of you are so close by here in Lubbock....my daughter is a seabee, she goes to Amarillo once a month for training, she is getting ready to go to Mineral Wells for a week of training,...and then some more training in Amarillo and then 3 weeks in Mississippi,,,and then on to Afganistan for 6 months....but is thinking about maybe going active but is not sure yet,... I was stationed in Norfolk Virginia on the USS Yellowstone for 3 yrs and then I was COMOPTEVFOR for my last year as I was pregnant with (her) and then decided that I just wanted to get out and do the civilian thing with her.....but I am very proud of her and what she is doing....I don't get on here very often as I work two jobs so I am always at one of them....but I do get on here late at night probably when everyone is asleep...so you all take care and God Bless You and Your Reservist Sailor...

My son is in unit 40 and just left on Saturday for Japan. He's only been stationed in Port Hueneme a few months.

Jon just left for San Antonio today; i already miss him!THey apparently ship out to Chicago tomorrow. I hearf from him that he's in San Antonio @ the hotel; I hope I'll hear from him tomorrow either b4 he leaves or shortly after he gets to boot. Unfortunately I'k afraid it's gonna b a long 8 weeks. he will probably call you b4 he leave as he will not be able to call when he get to the base, my daughter called b4 she left and then we ddn't hear from her for about 3 weeks and she called,...did you send a calling card with him, we sent two cards with he so that she cld call us and her aunt..but the time will go by fast, and he will get to write my daughter wld lay in her rack at nigh and write,...so hang in there you two will be great...

hi Maria..... We heard from him after he got to san antonio. He did not call b4 he left for Boot & no call yet; we were told he wld have a 2 min call after her got there; still waiting. If still no call by tomorrow morning, his recruiter may b getting a a call............. I try to tell myself no news is good news, but that only goes so far............. Thanks

well my daughter is going to Mineral Wells this week from the 29th-Feb.2nd...to training and then they have a meeting in Amarillo the first weekend in February and then another meeting the first weekend in March that is when I have to go with her to sign papers, power of attorney and will, I am not looking forward to this, but I know it has to be done...but anyway you will hear from him,...when my daughter left for boot camp, they gave her the wrong orders and she got stuck in the Dallas Airport and she was scared to death it was her first time away from home and I called her recruiter and he wld never call us back so then I got in touch with the chief and he called around and found out where she was at and then he made sure that someone from the USO there in Dallas came and sat with her at the airport and made sure she got something to eat,..which wasn't so hard as I had given her some money before she left and made her put it in her shoe...but the Chief was real nice and made sure she got to Great Lakes and when she got there and reported he made sure that I knew she had made it there and was fine....so good luck to you and your son.
