Where is he flying from and to? and how long would he get to stay home?
My son is coming home in July for 2 weeks... from California to Tennessee ... for $359.00

ugh - that is a shame!! You would think military would get a huge discount!!

From what I understand, they can catch a "cheap" flight out on a military plane - if there is one - but it is just kinda like standby mode. Then, once he hits the states, he still has to get home!!

I was kind of wondering the same thing. I have seen that some airlines do offer military discounts but you have to ask and they have to show ID. My son recently flew and wore his uniform and was treated like royalty. His dinner before the flight was paid for by another customer, they upgraded him to first class and he even received a drink free. I looked online through the Navy's MWR site and some of their flights are pretty reasonable and of course offer a military discount. They have a travel department to help you out. It is how I set up my fligths for PIR and even my hotel.
