Check with your Sailor what distance they can go on while on liberty! Each area is different, and I am thinking that if you are going to take a Sailor 3 1/2 hours away, it might be further than they can take on liberty. If a Sailor goes further than they are allowed to while on liberty they can get into BIG trouble.

He has already been told that it is OK. Why such a bossy attitude? We are all just trying to help each other out. I think that if my son told me he was allowed to come home for Thanksgiving, then he will be.

Let me add that I do realize that leave can change. But for now, this is what he has been told.

Hoppi is not being bossy, she too is just trying to help. Her advice is awesome and we all appreciate her!!

Think what you like, I have been in the Navy longer than most of the peoples children who are on this site. I try to pass on knowledge, not rumor's or guesses. I know each area has a certain number of miles they can travel on liberty. I was just trying to save you and your son some heart ach, if he goes beyond the miles he is allowed to go with out a leave chit, he can get into trouble.

My son is not one to push the limit. He has asked, I'm sure, about the distance or he would not have told us to make plans to come get him. Maybe the word "bossy" was a little harsh, but you do come across as if you are the only one who knows anything. We all are in this together and some are serving, therefore, we should try to come across with our advice, or knowledge, in a little more of a calm way. I will not reply any more to this because it is a little silly. As far as I am concerned, I will go with what my son has told me (that he has been told).

Please advise "how" I am coming across as knowing everything? So far everything I have posted on this web site is facts and if they are not, I put "I think" or "I heard" on the post.

If you are talking about the post I made to MM3, he needed to be checked! He posted "all Active duty" which is NOT true!

As far as a little more of a calm way. It is very hard to be able to express feelings on the internet, so if you mistook how I posted something...

and as u said if im not sure i will put the same statement but when i speak to chief and he says he got the information from our CO then im pretty sure it is more acurate than what u think and as i said i figured that some ppl on here would realize that if they are on deploment or in some type of trouble for instance resriction that they would not be authorized to get that leave i mean im pretty sure most on here have at least that much common sense and in response to i need to be "checked" i dont know who u r but the 1 needing checked is you miss thinks she knows it all

You are so correct. Our Sailor will be at Goose Creek for the holidays and his "parameters" were anything under 400 miles was considered liberty and over 400 miles he would have to take "leave". I am glad you shared that it might be different for each area so that I can mention next time not to assume it is the same if he has switched duty locations!

I have been stationed in locations that you could not go futher than 50 miles from the command. Now that was NOT fun! I am now at a command that it is 300 mile radius from the base.

Every place is different, would be nice if all the bases where the same :~}

My son is presently in that boat ~~ has 12 days off but we live 2000 miles away from base ! so he has to take LEAVE and can only get 4 days away at that distance !!
Yet we assumed he could be home the whole time ~~~
