I spoke to my son in GC last night. He has been approved for a while. We are only 220 miles from there so it is within limits. I have talked to Karen Gallagher (since she has three in the Nuke field and two at GC) and she confirmed that 350 miles is the limit that he can travel without a chit. I guess he was making sure that he had everything covered. Like I said before, he is not one to try to get away with anything. Always has been my "cautious" one of the three! :)

in response to this im guessing that this depends on the slpo of the section bc i have routed a request chit to travel almost 800 miles for thanksgiving and am not being charged leave

We are 220 miles from Goose Creek, well under any limitations.

Yes, my daughter gets leave from December 29th through January 10th. She is stationed in San Diego aboard the USS KIdd and they were allowed leave because they go on a seven month deployment when she gets back.

My daughter just finished A school and got her orders for the USS KIDD. She is in San Diego now, and just sent a text saying she was being deployed Saturday. How do you stay in touch with them during their deployments?

Leaves can change at the last minute. My daughter is at GC and was supposed to come home after A School grad. in April. Got her ticket. Then w weeks prior, they delayed her leave until first of June. Had to pay the difference on the plane ticket. She's graduating from Power school next month and has leave plus travel time to move to Prototype school - over 2 weeks. There is no standards re: leaves.

Hello! I just joined so I hope I'm doing this correctly. My son is in Norfolk. His PIR was in January of this year. We just worked out his plans so I know precisely what he gets. He leaves Norfolk December 31 to come home and then returns January 11th. I do know that he didn't get to request specific days - this is what he was assigned for leave. But, heck, I'm so excited he's coming home!

Maybe not bossy but her answers always border on being rude. I would prefer to have someone else answer my questions.

If you would prefer me not to answer you question, don't read the answers I post.

I have done nothing against the rules on this forum.

Please let me know what information I have given that is incorrect. As people seem to giving the impression that I give out false info.

If people would like the all hugs and kisses type of person, that is not me. I give out info, I am very blunt. I understand most of the people on this forum are not in the Navy and I am used to dealing with Sailors, not recruits, nor parents.

I think Hoppi rocks ... even when she's called me on my errors. LOL. She's just being efficient with the info!

The lesson in all this is if you make plans ... the Navy may well change them for you. Last minute deals are the way to go. And never, ever assume anything until the sailor has it in writing in hand!
