Navy For Moms

The Molly Marine statue depicts a female Marine, with the inscription "Free A Marine To Fight." The statue was erected in 1943 and is the only statue dedicated to Marines in New Orleans.

Molly said that her mom was in the WAVES and I searched for history and pictures. I started this in June for her birthday.
UPDATE
My friend Molly is having surgery in December and I was reading her comments about her life and family. Please say prayers for her safe recovery.

My mother would sing all the time and dance everywhere. She was just an entertainer. Anyway My parents were much older then the average parent was then when they had me 41 & 43. My momma would say I was last button off daddy vest.
Every year for 6 to 8 weeks my father would put mom and I in the car and we would travel the united states. My father felt it was very important to see the USA. We would see all the important American tourist things BUT also all the little towns in between.
So on these trip we would sing my mother taught me SOOOOO many songs it would make you cry just how many I know.
We would sign all the military ones, real ones and funny ones. Some not so clean .........
Just to tell you one right off the bat ........ my fathers name was Walter
And my mother would sing..... " Walter lead me to the alter, and Ill show you wear I'm tattooed " LOL LOL LOL She said it was an old salty WAVES song they would sing to there Officers.

I have never seen a love like there's.
When my father died my mom said she felt as if she had lost her whole entire right side of her body. She said I know you lost your father BUT I lost 4 people
1) my best friend
2) the love of my life
3) my financier
4) my protector
They were married 57 years before dad died....and oh my they were a real fun couple. My dad was a quite gentlemen with emphasis on gentlemen. Very smart...very very smart and mom well shoot was a funny shoot from the hip LA woman.
Opposites attracted with those guys. He keep my mom in line & on the straight and narrow, and she made him laugh.
I can remember my mom was always center stage and making everyone laugh and my father would sit back and watch her with such loving eyes. What I would give to have the love they felt for each other in my life. My mom always said she was one of the lucky ones :)

Yes, I used to tap dance to that. My husband and started ballroom dance lessons last fall because he never learned how . We have been having a blast. We do the east coast swing, the rumba, cha cha, waltz and the fox trot. It is so much fun but very expensive. We are done with the private lesson that we bought but still have 3 months left to our club membership so we can still take group lessons and attend the Saturday night dances.
