i already have a sailor. my son's PIR was nov. 14th and it was the most wonderful thing a parent can ever experience. it will be a hard 8 weeks but you can do it. make sure that you write to your son as often as you can. its all they have for 8 weeks. the first 3-4 weeks will be hard and dont be surprised when you get that first letter home and it sound depressing. keep him upbeat and together you will make it. you will be loosing your baby boy but be getting a sailor and a hero that you will call your own.

Brian,
Did you get the I'm here call? I got it that night (12/2) about 10:30..I got the box on Friday. I have not received the form letter with address yet. Has anyone that had a child leave on the 2nd received that letter yet? I don't want to call the recruiter--for alot of reasons. I was wondering how long it usually takes to get the address?

Brian.
I received the form letter with address today. It was postmarked the 5th. If you haven't gotten yours you should be getting it any day now. You would have thought by my reaction that the couple of lines he wrote in the comment section was a winning lottery ticket...LOL

Hi Brian,
My son left to GL on 10/28, his PIR is on 12/19, I'm so excited to see him and for his PIR.My Pastor has a son who is a drill sargeant there and has been through the PIR experience and he says it is so amazing. My son has been Section Leader since he arrived at BC, the Navy has matured him so much. He didn't have much direction before leaving, and now he sounds so grown up. God has answered my prayers in giving my son direction, and all I can tell you is pray for your son, and ask God to lead his way.

My son leaves on December 16th for GL. My son too is looking for direction and a place. What you said has given me a sense of relief that my prayers too will be answered. Thank you!!:o)

Yes, my son left on November 14th. He has written, but I have not had a phone call yet. I am hoping that maybe today it might come. Tomorrow will be the start of week 4. I thought I would have gotten a call by now. I miss him every minute of every day. I am sad that he will be in boot camp over the holidays. Thanksgiving was a little depressing. In his letters, he has good days and very bad days. I am hoping the first call will be good.
