Navy For Moms

If you have a sailor that is in a rate that is well overmanned, how difficult is it to change rates?

He first needs to find a rate that he likes that is undermanned. But since the Navy is close to all manning levels this might be a little bit of a challenge. I would suggest he meet with his NCC. they can give him all the latest info and what his options are.

SVM needs to be in current rate for 24 months after "A" School, needs to have his ASVAB scores (line) reviewed to see what qualed for, needs to be looking at a rating that is undermanned comparied to his rate. Need to do a bunch of paper work, have a CDB (Career Development Board,) get recommendation from a Chief or above in the rate he is wanting to go into (in writting,) do what ever other pre-req's are required for the rate he wants to go in, gett the COC up to the CO's approval. Have all paper work seent to PERS-4010 ("A" School people in Millington, TN) for approval.

First thing SVM needs to do is talk to his COC and CCC.
