Navy For Moms

So excited I got the letter in the mail today. I am counting down the days until I get to see my husband. Does anyone know what the dress attire is for graduation. Or how cold in will be there in Nov. Also what about liberty, if he is not a grad n go does he get to stay with us for the weekend? Or does he have to report back at night?

We rented a car through AAA. I think it is from Avis. I just called the Navy Lodge and asked about getting a room for PIR. It was very easy and it is only $65 a night. It looked nice from the pictures and others have said that it is nice. Can't wait to see my sailor!

Where are you renting a car from? I'll need to rent one for the weekend as well.

Hi Diane it great you got a phone call, I still have not gotten a phone call but recieved my second letter on Thursday Oct. 15th. and he sounded good in the letter. I can't wait for a phone call to hear his voice. He did get one call and he called his girlfreind, which I understand. It is overwhelming, we did make are reservations at Residence Inn in Waukegan because it has a sofa and a mini kitchen. Rented a car from the airport. So as long his Grad date dosn't change we are all set. Where are you from?

hi-- my son left on Sept 23rd and we got his letter saying Graduation for him is Nov 20th... I just wondered if you had gotten anything yet as far as his ship and div numbers.. if so you can look at the navy website: http://www1.netc.navy.mil/nstc/rtcgl/upcoming_grads.asp and it shows you what divisions are graduating on what date...

I just asked a friend at the GL base and again he said all Sailors do not have to report back, they may have to call to chk in but good possibility they will stay with you. Raineegal where are you getting your information?

My son left on Sept. 22 also and is in Ship 14 Div 392. I have yet to get a call from him. Anyone know when I should expect one?

I so want a call from my husband. Every time the phone rings I hope that it is him. I know so many have gotten phone calls. Not sure why this Div has not.

Sometimes we at home only get the "im here" call, a 3 week in phone call, "i;m a sailor" phone call. don't be discouraged... no news is good news. Honestly! unless they do really well on something and earn a call, they will only call home to say that their grad date has been pushed back b/c of a medical reason or because they didn't pass something. Just write to him everyday and let him know how proud you are of him.

I have heard that the sailors have to be back at night, but I've also heard they can stay with us. so... I don't know, I guess I'll find out as things move along!

Chicago is bitterly cold and windy this time of year... my husband graduates 11/25, but I've lived in the area my entire life. I am wearing a knee-length dress and heels. The best suggestion I've heard about dress is to dress how you would feel comfortable. If you are a jeans and tee shirt girl and hate dressing up, your hubby would hate to have you be miserable for him. I love to dress up, so my husband will be assuming I'll be. I also think that since it's a formal ceremony, I should be dressed up. Also they are in their dress uniforms, so I figure I should look "extra" nice, too. However, this is not necessary.I suggest bundling up because there will be a lot of walking and it IS COLD. Mornings are in the 30s, sometimes 20s, and the high is usually around 50-55. and like I mentioned, it really IS the windy city!

Also, look into guidelines of pda, it is very helpful to know what to expect =]

I wish I knew. I would really love to hear my husband's voice. I hear some have already received a few phone calls. Every time the phone rings I hope that it is him but so far it hasn't been. Keep us updated if you receive a call.
