Navy For Moms

I am looking for anyone that is in Norfolk area and in Richmond. As some of you know my son was in the motorcycyle accident in July. Still in the Naval hospital in Portsmouth he is feeling soso very lonesome. I was just wondering if there was anyone out here that has the time to look in on him. Someone that could take maybe a magazine or too to him. Maybe even a milkshake. He has a girlfriend there but she often forgets to take things to him. I will pay for anything that is taken to him. The care he is getting at the hospital is ok. They don't do very good about keeping him clean. He skin is pealing very badly. I do know that it is because he hasnt been abule to take a real shower in 40 days as of today. I called the charge nurse last night and told her that it isnt ok for him not to be clean. I forgot to check to find out how often his bedding is changed.
He has been in the Navy for 11 years and some of you new Navy moms that have question maybe he can help you. He really is a wonderful person to talk too.
Once he gets to Richmond he will not have any visitor until the weekend when is GF can get up there. If there is anyone that know anyone that could help her in getting a place to stay over the weekends that wouldnt cost her a whole lots. Like everyone else they have bills and money is tight. It will be so hard for her to go there every weekend. With gas and food and a motel. I dont think she will be able to go every weekend. I dont want her sleeping in the car. Most of the time I am sure she will be taking her 8 year old son.
If there is anyone out there that can help please email me. As I said I will make sure that I send to money for anything you do.
Thanks so much for reading this.

Denise, Susan mom to Niko left this advise to you in the MAS discussion when I posted an update on Michael in there.

Denise... have her check into the availability of Fisher House in Richmond. The Fisher House is run by a foundation and offers free rooms to families. We have a Fisher House here in Washington State and I know that they offer wonderful care for the families there. It would be a place that both she and her son could stay and they have a kitchen for food, laundry facilities, etc. As far as his car can you call the hospital and inquire about the care??? I am shocked that his care is lacking. I have been so so impressed with the care at the local VA...

we know about that one. It seems that they would need to be married. We are going to talk with them once he gets there.

Denise, I have a friend in VA, who has a friend, who has a friend in Richmond. His name is Joe. It's my understanding that he is willing to go visit Michael.
But he would like a picture of him. I don't feel right doing that-feels that's a mom's privilege to do or not.

Please respond as soon as you are able so I can pm you the email address. I don't want to post it here. I am going to add you as a friend so you can email me direct.

I am mailing Michael a pillowcase today.
