Navy For Moms

I just wanted to say to all the families (myself included) whose children are not coming home this Christmas, be blessed in spite of. Remember someone's child/children will not be home this Christmas or any other Christmas. I know that some of you haven't seen your child/children in quite some time now, and I won't be insensitive when I say this.We sometimes loose focus and put too much emphasis on holidays. Let's make it a habit to celebrate life (everyday) honoring our children and the people we love everyday. I think about the families (moms, dads, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, grandparents and children) that will spend this Christmas visiting grave sites, hospitals and other medical facilities and my heart breaks for them. It could be me, it could be any of you. So let's vow to celebrate life and one another everyday. Let's never miss that one moment to say "I love you". And never say anything that you may regret.

Quadralene,,,,what you wrote is absolutely beautiful,,,,and yes we do need to celebrate life everyday. I couldn't agree with you more. I am one of the lucky Mom's...my son is already home the holidays. My heart is broken for the rest of the Mom's who's child wont be. I will pray for all of you, your families, all our Sailors, and all other service men/women. May God bless and watch over us all.....Take care & God bless.....Laina

Thank you for posting this, Quadralene. My sailor won't be coming home for the holidays and I've learned to appreciate every day. He's happy, healthy and doing what he loves so we are all happy for him. I agree, never miss the opportunity to say "I love you".

Thank you for this reminder. I am one of those moms who "visits" my oldest son at the cemetary. He died of cystic fibrosis when he was 18, six weeks after he graduated. I miss him every day. The holidays are the hardest.
I now have the youngest son in A school in the Navy and he is unable to come home for the holiday. It is breaking my heart to have both boys gone, BUT I celebrate that CJ is where he is even if its not home....I know that he is living HIS dream, and doing a job that he feels is important.
It has also been hard to be on this site lately what with all the holiday homecomings occuring right now, I'm trying not to feel sorry for myself, although when CJ called the other night crying about being homesick and some other Navy issues it just breaks a moms heart to not be able to hug him and tell him its going to be ok.
Merry Christmas everyone....hug your sailors extra tight....
