My son Stefan graduates on the 9th as well. Does anyone know if we should take any personal items for him? Are they allowed to have cell phones, ipods etc at this time?

I was told that they cannot have their phones, ipods, etc...They are not allowed to wear civilian clothes or drive during liberty either. Hope this helps...See you on the 9th:)

My sons PIR was 12/24. You do not see them before ceremony unless he has some duty in the grad hall before it begins. You want to get there before the gates open so you won't have to be stuck in the line. Also you should DEFINITELY take a shuttle from your hotel to the Grad hall. Driving your car will get you held up in security. Taxis and shuttles take you rite to the gate! There are tables set up in the Grad Hall with your sons Division Tshirts (they design them themselves) and bottled water. They sell out of the tshirts fast so get there early!! They are $15.00ea. It is so wonderful. I hope you have as much fun as we did.
He was also grad n go. We understood that he would only have until 1PM with us but it turned out that he was to fly to Pcola the next day and so we ended up getting until 7PM with him. He flew out of Midway the next day and we did too and he sat at our gate with us for the 2 hours we had before our flight. Like some have said, it is Navy time.

Thank you for the information. Are there pictures of the grads as well that you can purchase? What about the yearbook? I heard from others that there is one. Am I correct?

Yes! And be sure if your child hasn't purchased pictures by Friday to buy them ON Friday. My son said "Ahhh, mom, it's crowded in the NEX, let's just pick the pictures up on Saturday. Well, pictures can only be bought Monday thru Friday. Soooo, he's having to buy the pictures this week and mail them to me.

Grrrrr.

Thank you...my son said he did already purchase pictures, but I was wondering if we could purchase more. I am sure he only bought a few and as a mom (lol), we all know you have to give to grandparents, etc....

Thanks for the wonderful information. My son is reporting to GL the end of February; always the planner, I'm wondering how many tickets he will be issued for his graduation. Best wishes to all your sons and daughters.

They get "4" tickets... You will receive a letter and information packet with everything inside. Get you hotel soon as they do fill up quickly. We stayed at the Red Carpet Inn, it is only 1 mile from the base. Also it is cheap and comfortable.
