Navy For Moms

I am not sure how this is all done. I have a problem. My son has been in a very bad motorcycle accident. He is in bad condition. My son has always told me that there is a POA and will. He was very bad about mailing things to me. I am trying to find out if the Navy keeps that information. If they do where ans who would I contact. How can I contact to find out. He is in Norfolk and I am in Washington state. I am trying to get there. He was to be married on Aug 1st. I have plane tickets already but its not until the 29th. The airline wants over 1100.00 to change our tickets. They are for my husband myself and his sister.
I dont know what to do. I know getting there is important but they have him on versid. So there in nothing he is going to remember about any of this. I know there is nothing at all I can do for him yet. So I have been trying to take care of all the other things. But without the POA there isnt much I can do. Can anyone offer me any advise. Where to I go in the Navy to get answeres.

Im not an expert BUT I say start with the Red Cross & the Ombudsman of his ship/base/command and ask them. Just tell them what you told us !! They can point you in athe right direction.
Prayers for you & your sailor

The FFSC 24-hour hotline (1-800-FSC-LINE) can also connect families with their Ombudsman or Careline.
Copy & pasted info for you (if you dont know ombudsman maybe this line will help you find them )

I am so sorry to hear this! My prayers are with you. I can't imagine how frantic you must feel.

I'd bet it's cheaper to buy new tickets than try to change the ones you have. Call and ask the airlines if they'd give you a deal for this situation, at least for one of you to be there. I paid $600 for next day flight from P'cola to Seattle in May.

He would have been given the copy of the POA and will. I don't believe the Navy has the ability to keep these things on file, nor would they probably want to. In any event, you certainly could call JAG to find out. Try this number and if it's not them, ask them to give you the number 757-836-5950

Also, give Military One Source a call to see if they have any resources or information they can help you with. 1.800.342.9647 Explain what's happened and see if they can help you formulate a plan for what you need to do.

I would also connect with the command's ombudsman, too.

My prayers are with you, keep us updated!

Denise my thoughts are with you.. my son is stationed at little creek and my sister is out there too so if I can do anything from afar please dont hesitate to ask I will get someone there... If he has any room mates you might want to contact them to see if he has something on file at home or in the barracks... I believe you would have medical POA even if there is no signed one unless he is married.. but I would verify that of course... My prayers are with you.. your son and family..
