Son left MEPS June 2, for Great Lakes, IL - Div 937

Hi Everyone
My son left on June 2 for for the Great Lake. I recieved his box about 3 days ago, 6/9 and found not only his clothes but the note book that the recuirter gave him, (that he was suppose to be able to keep) the extra pens and paper and note cards as well as his pictures of family and GF. If youi have a son or daughter there, give me a holler. The recruiter says his graduation should be around the 24th or 31 of July.

My son also left MEPS on 6/2 & according to his recruiter is in Divison 937. He gave us an address, however, I've been told to wait until we receive the form letter from Zak as the address may not be correct.

Thank you! Received a letter from my son late last week and he's pretty sure that July 31st is the graduation date. Has anyone received the official graduation info yet? I'd like to be 100% positive of the date before making travel arrangements. My son's clothes and cell phone came back. He still has the address book. It may depend on the size. He made sure to get the smallest one he could find.

Hi Tracy I have that box too, all the writing material and of course the phone and ipod came home. I wonder why they couldn't keep the writing material? I am sure he will have these answers if he ever calls!!!!

Don't worry about writing materials. They have some there for them. they will have to use the official ones that they can buy at the store. They go to the store once at the beginning of boot, in the middle for more supplies like shower soap, and again just before and after graduation. Not to worry about them needing anything. You can send them more pictures. They can keep any pictures that aren't pornographic in nature and are appropriate. Send him a letter with all the addresses on it again, that one he'll be able to keep. They just do what they do to give the illusion of control. It's always about the first 3 weeks. Those are the make 'em or break 'em weeks. Believe me. Just let them know that the way you pass bootcamp is to pay attention to detail, do as you're told, and work as a team. The last one is extraordinatily important because it's the only way they can graduate. If they don't work as a team during Battle Stations they will fail. It's actually a fun experience and not difficult at all. Most of it is folding clothes, lol. Boot camp is a breeze if you can let things slide off your shoulder. The RDCs turn out to be really fun people at the end of boot camp. They'll all be fine. Most divisions only lose about 3-4 people during the two month period anyway. Most people that they lose go to other divisions unless they're too sick, too physically disabled (which hopefully meps knew about), or they do something really stupid (like try suicide- it happened when I was in boot), if they do that then they get to go to Separations where they sit around waiting for a month or so to be able to go home.
The real adventure is when they get out of boot and go to A school. That's where they meet new people that they most likely will see later and they start basic for their rates (jobs), followed by C school, where they actually get to do some of their job, and then they'll be fleet. Depending on the rate they chose they will be in the fleet within 3 months to 1 1/2 years.
