Navy For Moms

Seems like it was forever ago he started the DEP program, but on November 3rd, my son Mike is due to go to bootcamp in Michigan. Reality's hitting and I'm a wreck. He seems ok, trying to stay focused and running a lot, getting ready, excited about his going away party which will be this Saturday, Oct. 24th. Just wondering if anyone else has a child leaving this time. Sure could use the company

I think you have it exactly, loss of control. And just knowing that you can't call! It's so frustrating! I was thinking about that too today. Mike never moved out but was not home all the time and I never thought twice about it. Actually hardly ever, work , friends) But we talked on the phone and caught up at night and watched movies here and there. He was my dog babysitter when I would take the occassional overnight to Atlantic City! (I'll miss that!) It's so quiet here now and no one asking what are we having for dinner! Now I wake up thinking about him and go to sleep thinking about him. But today I was also thinking that he really did make a good decision. He had a dead end job that made it impossivble to go get an apartment. There really wasn't anything for him here! Except me of course! lol And already he had new experiences, his first flight, a new state never seen before, and God knows whatever experiences boot camp is putting him through. But I think he feels good now and proud of himself, and a Mom can't ask for more then that. I still miss him like crazy but today I felt so positive for him. And it was my first tear free day that I could remember...came close a couple times though. I think I'm gonna make it!!!! lol

I know you will make it my friend, and I too. Thank you so much....you just spoke my heart. The eating thing made me laugh! This morning I made pancakes, way too many...forgot it was just me and hubby. Thank you Pat, I can't wait to meet you....I have a hug with your name on it. Blessing sweetie, have a wonderful night. Mary

I am watching the Titans Game and Outback Steak House has a commercial for Veterans Day, honoring servicemen...I cried!!
Lisa
I am in the same situation Alex's mom, Jesse moved out almost two years ago and I would talk to him 2 or 3 times a week, but he's no longer accessable to me when I need or want him and I feel like I'm loosing my mind and my heart is being ripped out......hmmmm son withdrawls, that's exactly what it feels like... We must stick together.

Wow I hadn't thought about Veterans Day Lisa. Another hurdle - but we'll be fine. As a government worker, I have that day off....so maybe I will...........oh heck, I have no clue what I will be doing that day. Don't you hate when those commercials sneak up on you? I wish they would put a warning up first. You know something like, "All moms of service men, please leave the room", that would be sweet. Oh well. Hang in there Lisa, we are all in the same boat........or ship, distroyer, air craft carrier, or sub. LOL a little navy humor. Sorry, I will go now :)

I also work for the Government Mary and will be off Veteran's day. I have no idea what I will do either, by the sounds of it I better avoid the TV!!! That day will be another hurdle. Maybe I will get the guts to finally go into Dylan's room and clean up and change his sheets??? I will have to see how and if the tears are flowing that day before I commit to that job. I may not be ready for that just yet. :( If we just had some communcation!!!! Come on address and form letter!!! I love your sense of humor and positive attitude Mary, thank goodness you are here with us to keep our Spirits up!! I sure hope we help you as much as you help us!!

Mary,
I forgot to ask you after I noticed you lived in Ohio, my daughter goes to Ohio State University and graduates from there this coming March. I was wondering how far you are away from the University?? You are (I think) one of the closer people to PA that I have been talking too. :)

Hi Pat,
We talked about a week ago about our sons leaving on the same day. I got the phone call from him after he arrived. I haven't heard from him since but didn't really expect to. Hopefully the Recruiter can give me his address tomorrow. I want to get some cards and letters going. Hope you are doing ok. I have had a pretty hard time. I know it's a good thing that he's doing but still miss him terribly.
