Hi my name is Sara. Im not yet a navy wife but a girlfriend of the last 4 years. My really lost and confused. I miss my boyfriend dearly. I have a couple of questions if you don't mind me asking... How long until the lonely feelings and empty feelings go away? And if and when that all goes away what is the next chapter?

You two have been together for a while so you are used to doing things together. Now you don't have him there to help with things or even being you sounding board. You learn to do things on your own that you are used to doing together. It will be hard at first but you will make it through it. No one can tell you a specific time. It is kind of a form of mourning so to speak. You are now on the next chapter. He will have days that he will want to turn to you and just share about his day and you won't be there either. You are both learning a new form of independence. I know the first time my husband was leaving to go a a West Pac (6 months long) I had two kids, was 10 hours away from family what was I going to do. I had a friend whose husband had been in the Navy for 22 years. I called her crying & telling her I couldn't do this. She told me to pull up my boot straps and that I knew what had to be done. Have faith in myself and I would do it. I did and it made me a stronger person. Only you can decide how long you will be lonely and feeling empty. I always would find ways to keep busy and keep my mind busy then I didn't dewll on it. I am only sharing how it worked for me. You will do this. I believe you can. Anytime you want to talk just let me know. You have friends here. Good Luck
