Navy For Moms

I need ideas for Christmas gifts for sailors. What is something that they need or can use while they are out to sea? My son says he doesn't need anything, but I want to give him something for Christmas. Any ideas will be appreciated.

Before my son deployed, we bought him a DVD player. He says it's worth its weight in gold. I send him a movie or two in every pkg. Also shoe insoles and their favorite snacks.

International phone cards, and a couple of his favorite books.

They generally can buy better ones cheaper through the NEX.

A small blanket or throw? The blankets that are issue are scratchy.

Hi,
What seemed to go over with the sailors was anything homemade from the kitchen. I used to make large quantities of carmel corn and pack it in ziplock bags. Once my husband or son opened it the smell seemed to announce to everyone "food from mom's kitchen" and it lasted about 15 minutes. The carmel corn was lightweight and traveled well. I also made cookies and put them in ziplock and coffee cans to ship. They made it pretty well too. They also liked the car magazines.

Help. My son leaves for Boot Camp Dec. 7th -- haven't learned how to use this site yet. Specifically I'm wondering if he can even get gifts at Christmas during Boot Camp.
