No, it wasn't a fancy graduation like corpsman school or boot camp. He said it was a low key ceremony in an auditorium, some speechs, some awards, and 30 minutes later it was over. We visited him just 2 weeks ago when we drove down to see him. He starts air crew school tomorrow. Hope your son is doing well.

Hi navy moms. My son, (Ryan) graduated from AVT school in Pensacola yesterday. (aerospace medical technician). He was honor graduate. :~)
Now he is starting aircrew school down there for the next month. Things are really moving along!

Hi guys,
I actually moved in the opposite direction. I was born in Philadelphia. My Dad got transferred to Schenectady. I met and married a guy from Hyde Park, NY, and now we live near Poughkeepsie. I work in NYC area tho. It's like a circle. My son is still out in the GL for A school. So far so good... we think.

BTTW the Buddy Guy/BB King show was fabulous.

Looks like we all escaped the Bronx and moved the great upstate areas of New York. I, myself, was raisied in Queens, but my husband is from the Bronx and after we married we moved to Monroe, NY in Orange County. Only an hour or so from the city, but still feels like country compared to the city for sure!
Hope all the sailors are well and all you moms too, now that summer has come to an end :~(

Welcome to the group, Minette, and congrats on becoming a grandma soon!.....................................Cathy

Hey Minette, I too grew up in the Bronx, and now live in Cochecton, NY near Bethel NY, 2 roads over from the Woodstock site. I too have a love story of how I ended upstate. My husband actually grew up in the Bronx and relocated as well later on. My son Brian 21 is in for 3 years now, stationed on the Bush and living in Norfolk. Glad to see another "upstater" :)

Hey New Yorkers;) So happy to be in this group. I grew up in the Bronx (NYC) but now live in Randolph NY near Jamestown in Western NY. How did i get from NYC to Western NY well thats a love story that i will tell another day but i love it here in the tiny town, population 2500, of Randolph. My sailor is Eric 25 and in the Navy for 8 years now and going to be a daddy in March. Yup im gonna be a grandma for the first time;););) My son and his wife live in Norfolk and he is currently on shore duty there. Does anyone live near me in Western NY? Hope everyone has a great day and God Bless;)

Thank you Cathy
Yes this is a good site to discuss and share what our boys are doing. Yes the traffic was phenomenol in the area that was for sure, but luckily was going in the opposite direction :) Yes I am thankful that he is close. Alot closer than when he was in SC but we took the opportunity to visit friends in FLA when he was there. I miss him terribly, hopefully he will get to come home soon I have a younger son who is 19 and graduating HS soon, he has to go to summer school, but done now, and he is in a program outside of the home, but doing well. I am thankful I have my fiancee and beautiful English Springer Spaniel at home to keep me company.

Hi kids,
How cool is it that we have so many up-staters. What are the odds of that? We are going to see BB King at Belthel Woods in a little less than 2 weeks. What a gorgeous venue. We were there earlier this year. Friends took us to see Earth Eind and Fire with Chicago. That show was nothin' like the Navy show that we saw in the other Chicago. I still can't talk about it wthout getting choked up.
