I don't think they can do overnighters until phase 3. Maybe someone else has better info.

Hi Barb!! Welcome to the group!! How exciting to be able to see your son soon!! I know the feeling, my older son has been away since May on deployment and comes home next week. My younger son is in bootcamp with PIR 11/13! Be wonderful to hear about Ed's experiences. :-)

Hi CaraJae - I will have to ask my son, but I thought that he had overnight liberty during phase two. I can remember them camping out overnight, but I will ask him to be sure when that was in his training. :-) Maybe another person can answer you if they know. :)

Hey, does anyone now during what phase of A school (if any) they get over night liberty during a weekend they don't have watch? I heard they did during phase 2, but my bf is in pensacola now, but just got there and is still in phase one, but he seems to think that even once he's in phase 2 he will still have to be back on base every night...any insight?

Hello, new to the group, my son PIR date was May1, 2009, he arrived in P'cola May 2, 2009. He has completed candidate school and has started A school a few week ago after a very long wait. He has had the best attitude. We are very excited will be going to see him in a few weeks. It will be the first time seeing him since May 1st!

CathieRenee - Ok, cool. So you still can be land based and fly on helicopters and NOT be a rescue swimmer. :-)

Julie,
He is not a rescue swimmer and he has never been deployed on a ship. The only time he is on a ship is when his helo lands on one. I got to chat with him today, he sounds great.

Hi all,
My bf just graduated from Basic on October 2nd & is now on hold in Pensacola. He is Aircrew Rescue Swimmer. Just joined this group. =)
