Trish my son was in A school then too. He graduated A school 9/17/08. He mentioned the sailor killed in the auto accident. He has his obituary card.

I know when my son was in A school in 9/08 there wasn't anything big planned..but at the same time they had a sailor killed in an auto accident that a group of them were able to go to his burial and they missed out on getting their picture in the group shot. But my son down played the whole thing as nothing big at all. Your rating in the class is what helps you get your pick on your next duty.. so if your sailor is 1st or 2nd they pretty much call their duty spot. C school in no big deal that is where they learn to work on the air craft they picked!

Cindy, you can always go to the A school graduation and come back with out him. I thought I was going to be able to do that with my son too. I'm glad I went to my son's graduation anyway because he ended up not coming home right away. They sent him on to C school. So at least I got to spend some time with him. If I hadn't gone I would have had to wait even longer to see him.

Jenny - great pictures. I'd cry too if I got something like this from my kids.

Well, I was planning to attend Jake's A school graduation, and then drive back to Michigan with him, but now he is on hold in Pensacola until 11/30. I though about calling the Navy and throwing my weight around because I'd made vacation plans to be there. But, then I thought better of it. I'll rearrange my schedule. I'll miss his graduation from A school (no big deal), and just reschedule my little scoot down to Florida. My motto in life has become "WHATEVER". Makes everything easy.

My sons A school class took a vote and decided not to have a ceremony at all. I was bummed because we were going to be there around the same time he was finished for a visit. But someone did take a class picture and he gave me that when we got there. There was nothing done at all for C school. I'm with Susan my son said my middle name is Kodak. (lol) He asked me what I wanted for my birthday this year and I said have one of your buddies take some pictures of you and email them to me. He said mom get real I said I am. One of his friends was with him and heard me. Well I got 2 pictures of my deployed son and one of him and the buddy who heard me. Best present ever.
