Navy For Moms

I know this is a little early, but my boyfriend leaves for bootcamp on August 13. I can't even think about him leaving, it hurts so much. I couldn't be more proud of him though. We have discussed marriage in the next year or so because I will bot be finished with school until a year from now. I guess currently all I have to ask is, is anyone else's significant other leaving on August 13 2012, has anyone else been married or discussed it and the best time for it? Lastly, any tips from other sailors about bootcamp? I know he isn't nervous, but I am a little.

Thanks everyone!

My boyfriend just left July 2nd and I was a mess before he left, trust me you are not alone! I tried not to cry in front of him because I really wanted to enjoy our last few weeks together without being a complete mess, so I saved the crying for when I got home! My boyfriend and I have been together for over two years now and we did talk about getting married before he left. I've heard that it would be best to wait until he is done with boot camp along with A school, then you know if you can really handle being away from him over long periods of time, once he gets stationed somewhere then you could plan a wedding. My boyfriend and I decided that we would see where we are in two years and then go from there!

Hi Erin, my bf has been in the Navy for a lil over 2 years now and boot camp was soooo hard for me but I kept busy. I started a fb page for other navy girlfriends/fiance's/wifes just so I can have someone else to talk to in a more open forum and trust me, it was helpful. Alot of the girls I still talk to faithfully everyday and have become really close. As far as marriage, I dont know your relationship so I dont feel comfortable giving my opinion. You dont want to say anything if you think he will feel pressured about marrying you. Me and my bf have been together for 6 years going on 7 and currently, I am moving out there with him (Lemoore, CA). I finished school and that was the main thing I wanted to do. If you'd like, join my fb page and ask other questions and Im sure my girls will be more than happy to help you and just be there for you! facebook.com/mysailormyanchor
