Navy For Moms

When my son Aaron was in boot camp, he sent me letters when he could, saying how awful boot camp was and how he regretted signing up for such torture. I felt so bad for him that it was almost as unbearable for me to read his letters as it was for him to write them. In some of his letters he sounded extremely distraught.

It's been four months since his tramatic experience. I laughed out loud yesterday when we talked on the phone and he told me that looking back now, boot camp "was a piece of cake." He said he wished he could do it again. I never thought I would hear those words come out of his mouth!

So Moms, tell your recruits that even though it seems very, very hard now, (and we know it is) in the future, they will look back on their experience with fond memories. It sounds a little like child birth, doesn't it?

Peace,

Aaron's Mom

Thank you so much for posting these words of wisdom. We haven't gotten a letter yet, and I am almost afraid to get one! Now, though, I'll just remember what you told us!

There is truth to those words! My sons PIR is on May 15. I had mixed feeling about getting the first letter. Of course I was excited but part of me was so nervous. I was so afraid he would write the he hated it and was miserable, I knew that would make me so sad. However, the first letter wasn't bad and the second one was even better. When he finally got to call me, He sounded so awesome and positive. What a relief!!! Hang in there!
Keep counting down! Don't forget to forward your calls to your cell phone!! You never know when that call may come!!!
God Bless!

I don't know whether to tell my son this or not. He graduates boot camp next week. He might get fainthearted thinking about A school! :) He told me in his last letter that after the first three weeks the rest was way better. He said the first three weeks and particularly the first one were H*LL
