I am so happy for you Donna!!!! got 2 letters yesterday and feel great, Megan seems to be doing very well. I am so relieved.
Heard from my son today. He called at 5pm Chicago time, sounding tired and a little hoarse, but very determined. We were able to talk for twenty minutes, and he reported that things are going okay, and that the grad packet is on its way.
Tracy,
Over on the bootcamp page, a couple of the ladies have said that no one gets the hour talk; supposedly it's a "training tool" of sorts; recruits learn that their actions cost not only themselves, but others.
Phone call are the best part of boot camp. but they are earned. And the first thing taken away. John got to call on Friday. He went thought a lot of dental work thats why I didn't get a call the other day when everyone else did. He was having his wisdom teeth out. Sounds like fun. He was also a little hoarse. Said there is something going around. But thats the fun of BC. They like to share. LOL Just remember week 3 is the hardest. So if your recruit is down, that is normal, Week 4 is the top of the mountain. They will get the hang of things and start the downhill run. Plus a lot of guys in our group haven't received mail. So that was a real downer for them. But John tells me the letters have started to come in this week. So things are looking up for them. I did get my PIR pack this weekend, John is a grad-n-go. But is staying in GL for A-school so that won't be to bad. Feel sorry for the familys that have grad-n-go's that have to catch a flight right after PIR. Time will be to short.
Got my hour phone call (well 50 min's she wanted to call one of her girl friends) She sounded so great and upbeat. She has a few aches and pains but is doing great and looking forward to what is coming up she said they are doing battle stations on the 31st. So I will think of her on that day. I can't wait to get the I am a sailor call. She said she was going to try and call back but it has been 20 min's so I figured she couldn't. She also said she is going to be going to A school there instead of San Diego for two months, which is a real bummer as I was really looking forward to seeing her. But two months is not so long and I will live. I am still not going to graduation :( As it just is not possible at that time, we will be in the middle of state testing and it is so much money. I would rather save it and spend some time with her when she get to San Diego. Hope everybody in Div. 183 had a great call. Have a great Sunday :)
Also got most of Gail's hour phone call. She had a couple others to call, which is fine. She sounded more like the Gail I know as in more relaxed rather than scared, but still more sure of herself and confident. Sounds like her A school in TX is not a definite yet, as it could be in Virginia!! That was a new one for me and I'm sure it was for her, too. But as we all know, nothing is written in stone till the dust is blown away. Gail got to talk to her two sisters as we were driving back home from a 2-day volleyball tournament. She called her cell phone which I've been carrying with me. I hope everyone else had a great phone call Sunday, too!
Hi, Ladies :-) Talked to Ruthie today for about 20 minutes (both of us were here) and she was very chatty & happy. Had funny stories to tell on herself & what it's like doing all she does. Her ankles are a concern---she's getting some physical therapy to strengthen them. Other than that, she too may have her wisdom teeth (only the lower ones) out but doesn't know when. They'll probably do it on a Friday like John so he can rest on the weekend (Ruthie also said she'd get 48 hours after, which is very good.....I used to work for an oral surgeon). So all in all, our recruits sound pretty good, don't they? ttyl :-)
Megan said her ankles were bad too and she had to go to the doctor and was put on no activity for a couple of days. What they are doing must be tough on the ankles :)
no call from div 185..this is killing me. he told me he was scheduled for one between thurs and sun. im not gonna lie this is really getting to me. i cant imagine how it feels for him. i try to put myself in his spot but i cant, so i just keep writing and trying to be positive. but it stinks when someone ruins it for the whole div. i just hope to hear his voice next weekend i guess.
Hang in there, Lindsey! I really understand ... I've not been told about any phone call, but I sure have hoped for one. My son is Division 187, and last I heard, the other two moms with sons in that division have not gotten phone calls either. I've gotten one letter - ten days ago - with the encouragement he'd write a longer one in a week - obviously, he didn't get to after all.

Hugs to you, and may we both get phone calls soon! And remember, they can come at any time, maybe the phone will yet ring tonight, and some moms have gotten weekday calls. (I am aware you're not a mom, but I only know about the moms who are waiting for calls. :-) )

Blessings,
Sarah
No call today. This is the end of the third week, so I can only surmise that someone messed up. Maybe next week...
Does anyone know which divisions are paired together? My son is in division 187 on the ship 10 (Enterprise).
