Welcome to our group, Maggie! My daughter has only been home twice in four years for the holidays. It's probably one of the most difficult parts of being a military family. The toughest, by far, in my opinion are deployments. We had a relatively quiet... kind of wierd... Thanksgiving dinner... we had a family member pass away this summer and we really missed all the joy and fun he brought to our home. My oldest daughter is home with her fiancee until tomorrow when they go back to Nebraska... boy have we been busy! We have all the outside Christmas lights done and I'll get the kids to drag the tree up from the basement for me before they leave.

We'll definately post our next get together in plenty of time to make plans to attend.

Welcome Maggie, glad you are here. We are hoping to get together again after the holidays. There are two other moms that they sailors have been in the Navy for 3 years or longer, a lot of us are around a year. I think we all know how you are feeling. My son Stephen is an ITSN and is stationed in Naples, Italy. This will be the second holidays without him, putting up the tree without him yesterday was very hard for me. I know one mom lives in Tinley Park, maybe close to your cousin. My in-laws live in Tinley Park around 176 in LaGrange Rd. Hope you keep posting the more the merrier.

How everyone, hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving!

Hi All,
I am new on this page... My son Blake has been in the Navy for just over 3 yrs now... Wow that went fast, he is on The Rentz in the Gulf presently... This will be our first Christmas that he hasn't been home, starting to get very sad!
I would love to connect when u get together next time. I live up North in Wilmette, about 12 miles North of downtown Chgo, but willing to drive where you guys meet. My cousin lives in Tinely Park, so I come that way often!
I would really appericate being included, my friends really don't understand how I feel because there kids are home! I could use the support, the Holidays are really hard....
Thanks and Happy Holidays To All, Maggie

Yes you would Paula I have seen nothing like it and it is perfect. Hope you ate a lot of turkey and pie.

Michelle your son is home, I am so happy for you, enjoy every moment with him. How long is he home for? Yes I believe that Stephen is thinking of us I have been thinking of him all day long. I handed out my blue candles to the family and we all lite them on Christmas to remind us of Stephen (not that we every forget) we all enjoy doing this. GIve you son a hug for me!

Thank you for all your good wishes, Michelle! We'll do another when we can catch our breath after the holidays. You know, if I could find a silversmith to help me design a Navy charm, I'd probably be a rich Navy Mom! Blessings to you all!

Happy Turkey day!!!!!!!!

Wanted to say I'm very Thankful for NavyMom friends.........My son Adam surprised me yesterday and walked in my house 5 1/2 earlier than when I was suppose to pick him up @ Midway.....They let them leave earlier and they all ran for the buses......Delta was very kind and was getting all the Mil guys/gals out early. Very nice worth the money for him and me.

This morning both my kids went to run in the Bonfield Express here in Downers. Its a benefits for a past coach at DGS... Adam and his cuz jogged it and my other son Chris 15 did very well - he ran it with some friends and his time was 21:05 / not bad......So b-4 race his Big bro said if you do under 22 mins I'll give you $20.00 bucks / then his cuz said I'm in on that I'll give you $10 bucks...Hey he made $30.00 and its all good....

Debbie - Your son is with you today in spirit
Paula - Your newly promoted girl is with you today in spirit too

I also have out our Navy mat and candle we got and it is going to be my centerpiece!

Ladies Lets plan together soon......

Thanks for being so kind and being a great support team.

Thanks Paula, you wouldn't think it would be so hard to find, well I might have to go with something different.
