Hi All
Hope all is well for all the Depper Moms. My son left on Nov 10th and I must admit its harder than I anticipated. Its a strange feeling because you'll feel sad and happy at the same time. It will take about a week and half before you get the official form letter, but it is very informative and reassuring. There is info about graduation and websites that can be useful. I would post them but I dont want to spoil your moment when you read it because it is very special.I wish all of you well and you are in my prayers.

Me too. I'm off tomorrow afternoon for a weekend away with my hubby. =) Been too busy and stressful around my house lately! We'll both be glad to hit the pause button and take a deep breath, before the holiday season and a houseful of much loved extended family (read "controlled" chaos) hits our home next Weds!

All you new BC mamas just hang in there. Cry if and when you need to and can. You don't have to be "strong" all the time, especially here. The first three weeks are the hardest, but you WILL make it through each day and week. N4Ms will be here all the way, and beyond!

Lori, yesterday was a very long day for me but stay on this site because it helped me make it through. I went back to work today and really went through the motions. The principal was nice and sent me on an errand so that I could get home a little early. We are going to make it through this. We are strong and can do this together.

Well Moms I'm officially a boot camp mom now. Bryan's flight left about 10 minutes ago so he should land in Chicago arounde 6pm there time. I hope he remembers to call at the airport. Reality is slowing starting to settle in and I am trying to be strong but the hurt may out weigh the pride...Have a good night

Aww shucks, Michelle, thanks! Love you back sis! =) I'm home with a sick young 'un, so thought I'd check in briefly.

Don't forget that we have a whole PIR forum onsite. Los of been there, done that reviews and recommendations for hotels, car rentals, site seeing etc. . If you don't need 2 rooms/a suite and don't care about a pool or continental breakfast, then the Navy Lodge is my top recommendation. It's safe, clean, secure, affordable ($65 a nt. I believe), located on the base housing side of RTC with friendly, mostly ex Navy, staff to serve and advise you. Most rooms have full kitchenettes too. Plenty of time to research all that!

Tanao...WOW dont know what to say...I have tears in my eyes..reliving my experience just a few short months ago..its still fresh and I can see literally where you are and how you feel.

Angie is so right...We dont worry bout the long posts and neither should you!!

And Angie...You are my hero! That "I love you" was for being a wonderful big sis, a mom, a shoulder, and most of all a Navy Mom!

To all members...I know you hear about other members talking about rooms for graduation...Alot of folks have talked about rooms for $79 and $90...Even though the $90 rooms appeal to the ones that bring lots of family and is more economical there are cheaper rooms out there also...Keep looking if you are like me and the economy has hit home real hard...We stayed at the Americas Best Inn and Suites and it was $59 a night with a fold out couch..The breakfast was just a cold breakfast but the rooms were very nice. They had an indoor pool :D and have a shuttle service to graduation...Be sure to tell any of the hotels/motels when you call that you will be in town for graduation and most of them will give a discount...Our motel was only 3 miles from base. When you get the form letter there will be a brochure in there that has a list of different hotels/motels as well as car rental places. These cater to people coming for Navy graduation. Also there was another one (cant remember the name) that has rooms for $45 a night. No matter where you go check and see if they have a web site and if your still not sure go to bootcamp moms group and ask around to see if anyone has stayed at that particular place.

I hope everyone has a great Sunday

Found a great hotel to use for PIR and visiting your family at Great Lakes! Springhill suites by Marriott in Waukegan, IL. It has great rooms for $90 (don't forget to tell them you are here for navy grad) and an awsome hot breakfast. It only takes 10 min to get to the base. The couch in the room sleeps 1 adult or 2 small kiddos.
