Navy For Moms

I know if you are like me, the letters did not seem to come soon enough. The phone calls were never long enough. Well we want them to grow up and we are so proud of them, but we miss them at the same time. I know now that I have to wait for my Son to get his school out of the way before he gets to come home. Since he is graduating on the 29th of May this means, maybe will we see them for Christmas? Does anyone know?
I am so proud of all our young men and women for serving in any and all the military services! My Grandfather was in WW1, My Father in WW11. Now to see my Son want to protect our freedoms and serve our country is total Wow to me. I know there are many parents who do not support their children for their plans but if this is what mine wants to do and it makes him happy, I am all for it. I am a proud NAVY MOM! I just pray hard for their safety and strength. Thank you for supporting your Son's and Daughters.

Amen! I don't know how a parent could not support their child in this adventure in their lives but I know too that some do not. As for A school, I think and I hope, that they get to come after A school which is approximately 8 weeks, I think. If they can come home, I believe it is on their dime but the Navy will pay for them to get from their A school to their next station. If it costs more for you sailor to go to their next station from home, they may have to pay some differene. But.... I don't know any of this for fact, it is just my interpretation. -- Proud Navy Mom also!

It has only been 48 days since Jason left for Great Lakes, however it sure feels like 100's. This has been a long haul, waiting to hear anything from them. Now in 5 days I will have him in my arms! I can't yet believe I will see him so soon... I am so excited to see him in Great Lakes for PIR I can hardly think beyond that! I anticipated that this would not be easy for any of us, but I honestly did not expect it to be this hard either. Not a day has passed that I have not cried for my son, each night as I crawl into my bed, praying that he has peace in his heart, and a nice place to rest, (and please be warm enough, I think they only get 1 blanket and that has bothered me this whole time).

I am a bit apprehensive about what lies ahead for them, but we will at least have communication! As far as when we may be able to see them again, much will depend on your location and theirs, the length of A-school. It is my understanding that our son will be able to take a leave possibly between A & C school. Guess it will all come down to when he finishes A school, and when C school begins and where. I will gladly pay what ever it may cost to get him home for a few days!

I think once they are in A - school there are times you are allowed to see them for weekends if you live close enough to do that. Rules are much less restrictive. They can leave base after a few weeks. They have to request to have a weekend to come home in the form of a Chit. If there are no scheduling conflicts they may be able to leave.

The greatest advatage will be that they will be allowed to have cell phone, and computers very shortly so they will be able to call and email us! I will never again take that for granted! I never want to go this long before talking to him. Not sure how it works on a ship but I believe they are able for the most part to keep in contact with family. Can you even imagine how hard this was on families before the times of cell phones and computers, I-Pods and such? I guess you deal with what ever you must but that sure would be hard!

It has been a joy and a relief to have N4M and all the beautiful loving ladies here to encourage, and support eachother as we felt the growing pains of letting our sons and daughters begin this journey in their lives. I know life goes on and things change, but a sister-hood was established here, and no matter how many years from now, I will run into one of these women, I will cherish all the days and nights we shared laughing, crying, sharing, and supporting each other. We are like a family.... a family of Navy Mom's! Love to you all.

Oh, Twila..I couldn't have said it better! I will never take a text message or a 5 minute phone call for granted again! It does seem like they left forever ago, but I have to tell you, this past week has gone by faster than I expected -- I can't believe we will be holding out kids in our arms in 72 hours!!

And I can't wait to meet all my new friends in person. I can't tell you how much your friendship and support and encouragement has meant to me and helped me through the darkest days of BC. Now it's almost over, and our "little boys" are now grown men in the US Navy - that gives me goose bumps and warm fuzzies all at the same time!

Looking forward to meeting y'all and telling you "thanks" in person with a great big Texas hug. See you very soon....hugs, deb

Hi everyone - I hope it's ok but I am Div 208. We won't get our call till we are either in route or at GL already there. I have been following alot of sites this past 7+ weeks my daughter has been there. It really is weird now that alot of the gals that have been the anchors (oh how fitting) of some of the other sites are on there way so things are so quite. I am so nervous just waiting. I know she will do fine. She is supposed to go to Pensacola for A School so we plan on visiting her in August. Pensacola is a lovely town. She has lived there for a few years and the Beaches are spectacular. I am so emotional right now, tears constantly come to my eye's and I just can't wait to tell her in person how proud she makes me. I know we are all so proud of our recruits/sailors and am looking forward to putting faces with names this weekend. Have a beautiful day and thanks for listening.
