Good morning Valerie, I'm glad you got to talk to Christine on Sunday. It really helps to hear their voice doesn't it. I understand how tired they are. Sarah says the same thing. I think she was taking her test on Tues. also. She said she did her weapons class and was getting ready to do her live weapons class on Monday. I'm like you, waiting day to day to hear the progress. I suppose neither one of us will find out until Sunday. I sure hope Christine's tests turn out well! Kim

Hi Kim,

I did hear from Christine on Sunday - it was so great to hear her voice again :) She said she was taking test 2 on Tuesday and had another DR visit on Thursday - hope both go well. Just got a letter from her today, dated Sunday, so nothing new. So funny they are both going to be MM's and that their beds are next to each other. Darn her, she hasn't mentioned anything about her friends except that her schedule is insane and when they head back to their beds at night she doesn't even want to write anymore - just sleep. Did Sarah already take test 2 or was she also taking it on Tuesday. I'm hoping to get another letter on Friday with the news. Otherwise I'll have to wait until Sunday. I will ask C about her new found friend in tomorrow's letter!!!!

Valerie, Did you hear from Christine yesterday? Sarah said that their beds are right by eachother. She said she really likes her and she's really funny! Also, they are both going to school to be an MM. How funny is that? I'm glad they know eachother. What have you found out about her tests? I hope it's all good news! Kim

So sad.....yesterday would have been Sarah's grad. I know it's just a small delay but I'm dying for a hug with my girl and to see her again. Hoping for that phone call tomorrow! Kim

Thanks Kim - I know writing a letter and pouring out my feelings will help.

Lou - I have thought of you and your son often since your son was placed in a new division. It seems like a lot of the divisions just aren't pulling together. Hopefully, your son (& all our recruits) will take this experience and grow from it. I am so excited for you that May 21st is the BIG DAY! It will be a great day for both of you!!!!

Update time. My son does not love his new division. They put him into a division that had lost 20 guys. The group does not seem to have bonded well, they have had 4 different leaders in the past 2 wks. I am hoping that this week during seamanship & firearms training, they will come together. This new division is in last place, while his 1st division finished in 2nd place & won a lot of flags. His knee is good--he said the therapy was much tougher than the regular boot camp drills. I know he is in better shape now than when he arrived in GL on Feb 23rd. He also has more "experience" I guess than the other guys since he has been there longer, so hopefully that will help him. I think being set back is so tough on our kids, but it really is a bump in the long road of life. They will be stronger & appreciate graduating even more. I can't wait for May 21st !!

Valerie, believe me, I understand your frustration. It's so hard to hear your daughter upset and depressed. Sarah went into phase 4 a week ago. She's hoping to be out by the 30th but I remember her saying she hoped to be out over a week ago. They are really careful about moving the recruits too fast through rehab. The last thing they want is for them to go back to a div. before they are ready and end up right back where they started. It's hard for us because we have no control. They are now being taken care of by the Navy. We have to just keep supporting eachother so that when we get those phone calls we can try and make them feel better. I pray every day for all of them and all of us to have strength and to stay positive. Don't beat yourself up about not pumping her up. Just get out a pad of paper and pour your feelings out to her. That always helps me. You're both in my prayers! Kim

Mary Jo, do you know if your son needs surgery?

Hi all,

Update - my daughter called a little while a go with her bone scan results. She has 2 hip stress fractures (we thought it was only 1) and minor stress fractures in her shins. The DR is more concerned about her hip than her shins. She seemed very down when she called. However, she is in phase 3 and has an appt with the DR again next week, when she hopes and prays that she will be moved to phase 4. Does anyone know how long they are in phase 4? I can tell she is having a tough time knowing it could be another 4 weeks before going into a new division. I am completely stressed out and did not do a very good job of pumping her up on the phone - it was short and I had a lot of questions. UGHHHH! I'm so upset with myself for not pumping her up. Please add her to your prayers for a speedy recovery. I feel so bad for these kids in RCU.
