My son is also on hold for A sch. His PIR 9/18. He went to Enterprise first (maybe a week or so) then transferred to the USS Porter where is will go to school for many months. I don't think he even knows how many months but possibly through next August. It is like pulling teeth getting info from him. He will text us and maybe e-mail us (he just got his laptop). Matt saids they will have leave 12/18 - 1/03 but not sure of exact time of day. They have to put in for a leave request and as of yesterday my son said they have not told them exactly when that will be. It was probably several weeks before I had Matt's address after his PIR. Then another week or so before he called with address to send some civilian clothes, phone, etc. He may not know alot to tell you just yet. Anti M knows alot about what is going on during different stages, etc. Also I think the Navy or military in general can be "hurry up & wait". Hope this message helped some. Good luck!

Thanks Connie it helps to hear it from another person that it is just one of those hurry and wait or the plains you made need to be changed things, I am finding out that it is the Navy way. Thanks for your support

Hi Robsmom! My husband graduated 10/09 and he is an FC also. He was in the enterprise for a week and a half, and now is in the USS Essix. What is your last name (you can send it to me in a message) maybe they know each other! Anyway, for the holiday thing, he can either take leave for Thanksgiving or Christmas. Most of the guys chose Christmas. They are getting 16 days of leave. From December 18 at 0600 - January 03. So just ask him if he is taking leave for Christmas or Thanksgiving. (It's probably xmas!) So he can definitely be home for the holiday! Hope this helped.

My son is also in GL on hold for FC He graduated 10-2. Matt said his leave is from the 18th til the 3rd. I made his tickets for the 19th til the 2nd. Southwest you can change them just pay the difference but no penilties. Matt is now on the Jersey. Waiting.....

Barbara: just an FYI - have your son check with the SDC on his ship if they are allowing alternate leave dates. My understanding is that if they are going on leave, they must leave the base on the 18th.

Hi again all, Rob also put in for Dec. Leave yesturday, he said he will not be sure of the dates he gets for a few more weeks. I would just like like to take as much time off of work as I can when he is home and I need to get my shifts covered myself so the sooner I know the better chance I can do this as I am sure everyone will be looking for time off come the holidays. I know that is not Rob's problem and he can only give me the information he gets but this is harder then I thought it would be LOL. I guess I had a college mind set when he left I am learning it is not like anything I had to plain around before I will get it down some day. Rob also said he has not started school yet and is not sure when it will start. Not sure what ship he is on I will try to find out.

Talked to Matt this weekend he does have to leave on the 18th so I changed his ticket and saved $15.00 in the process. How great is that. Get him home 1 more day and save $. LOL.

Talked to Rob on AIM over the weekend he still is not sure when he gets his Leave, for Dec. I hope to find out soon. He said he will make all of the arrangments himself, I told him that I wanted to pick him up at the airport he told me that it was covered :(. I guess it is time to let go of my son's hand and start looking at him like the man he has become it is just so hard for me LOL. I keep telling Rob I am trying he told me last night I am doing a bad job at it LOL got to love that kid. Well I guess I will see him when he walks up to my front door.
