Can someone explain exactly what the FC does vs ET?  Where does each of these go to train generally and how long is the training for each of these?

I posted a couple of links that are helpful. My husband just finished up A school and is officially an ET. Now we are just waiting for C school orders. Obviously we are still in the middle of this journey but please let me know if I can be of any further help. :)

Thanks Tiffany, those links were very helpful.  I know that most of the questions have already been asked but finding those discussions is not always easy.  Do you know how long C school lasts or is that dependent on what they are going to train you to work on?

ETs never know how long their C school will be until they get their orders.  Too many variables as they have many systems and individual pieces of gear they could potentially train on.  As an ET, I had a handful of NECs (Navy Enlisted Classification codes).  ETs might go to just one C school, or they could go to several!

Thanks Anti M.  I wondered how that worked so guess we just have to wait and see.

My "main" NEC was from a C school directly after A school, secure communications at Ft. Gordon, GA.  The system has been updated, but the school is still there, takes about six months.   I also had NECS on other systems, I went to C schools between commands, and sometimes my command sent me to a short school.  Some were only four weeks, others took months.  There are also weapons  systems, and radars, and micro-miniature repair, and more.  While he's in A school, it would be good to ask experienced ETs (the instructors) what they worked on and what they enjoyed, and what sends an ET to sea more often  ... because he can put C school desires down on his dream sheet.

Thank you I will let her know Anti M.

Ah, she!  Sorry!
