Navy For Moms

Here is a discussion thread to further networking efforts. Once your Sailor gets orders to either "the fleet" or to a shore duty station, it might be helpful to find others who's Sailors are already there.

Mary, is Hawaii in the 7th fleet?

Reply to This

That's a yes and no answer. The 7th fleet is huge, and many ships, subs, squadrons and airwings are assigned to it. Some of them are in Hawaii, yes. But the 3rd fleet is headquarted in Hawaii, so those units are not 7th fleet. Yes, it gets confusing, and then the numbered fleets in the Pacific make up the Pacific Fleet. There are even ships/boats in San Diego which belong to the 7th fleet rather than the 11th as I understand it. To make matters more confusing, ships (and etc.) can be switched to other fleets.

There is a webpage for the 7th fleet which lists the forward deployed ships in Guam and Japan.

I sure wish we would have met up Barbra. At least our boys know who each other are now.

I wish I knew Beth Ann's son's name. I think it was Michael. I can't believe it is Thursday already. Plan to stay home this weekend. I need to give my house a good cleaning. I think that our boys are on a good ship, not the good ship lollipop, but a good one never the less.

Hey ladies,
It's been a while since I have been on NFM. Gotten so busy since Heather has been gone. There is life after bootcamp. Well Heather has been at her ship for about a month now and is loving it. She is on the Mason.
She did end up being honor grad at c-school which made us really proud. She has not had any problems with seasickness which was one of her biggest fears. Go figure!! We have been communicating by e-mail mostly which makes it feel a little like bootcamp. Just get the response much faster. Hope all your sailors are doing great in their Navy endevours. It's been a long bumpy road to get us where we are now but we can see now that it is all worth it when we here the pride in her voice as she tells us about her job. Will try to check in more often in the future. Have a great day ladies!!!
