Navy For Moms

Hello All,
I am so happy to have found this website as it has already answered so many of my questions and also helped me to have a few laughs on my down days :) My husband is currently in Recruit Training in Great Lakes. He recently told me in a letter that once he is finished he will go to A school in Chicago also. Does anyone have any advice about the area we should move?

Also, he forgot our banking information when he went to bootcamp. He said our first pay will be oct 1, 2009. However I am greatly struggling to pay our bills and do not know how to access that account. The last time we spoke he said he hadnt opened the account yet, has anyone else had this problem? If so what can I do? Please help. I have alot of bills to catch up on and need money to fly out for his graduation Oct 30. thanks so much!

I had to barrow and barrow again from family ever since my husband left for bootcamp. It is slowly getting easier to stretch that dallar. It was really hard for me to ask for that kind of help. Do you have any family that can help you? You can also call your utility companies, phone company ext. and see if they can roll over your bills to the next month with out charging late fees.

Eboni,
You might want to go on the AECF Wives discussion group...there are some nice ladies there. As a mom, I do not have much information to help you. When did he leave for boot? He should have gotten paid just 2 weeks after getting to GL. And I am assuming they opened a Navy Federal account for him. It is a great bank and easy to work with. Unfortunatly, you are probably not on the account yet. If you can send him your bank information, I THINK he can go to the Navy Federal branch on base and transfer some money to your other account. He might have to talk to the RDC's for his unit and tell them what he needs to do to help you to get permission to go to the bank. Good luck to you and Welcome to the Navy!!

He should have gotten paid Sept 15 and again on Oct 1. He can't actually put you on the account until you are there to sign the forms. The accounts are set up during the first 3 "P" days of boot camp. To transfer money to your other account he will need the ABA number and the account number....that is all the numbers at the bottom of your check except the check number. But he will have to be able to go to the bank branch on base to do it.

Eboni- If you look in the groups under AECF in this forum there is a group for ET/FC wives. Where to live options are covered a lot in there. We all help out each other so if you read thru and still have questions just let us know in there.
Also about the bank info did he open a new account with navy fed? They offer all the recruits a chance to sign up with either Armed Forces Bank or Navy Federal. We have navy fed and I love them. My husband said he needs to go and ask his RDC if he can go and take care of opening a new account. Then that money will be deposited. Unless you send him yall's bank info but he still needs to go talk to someone about putting that account as the one that he wants it deposited into. Sorry but until then there is nothing you can do and you just have to wait.

When my hubby was in Bootcamp he didn't have a bank account so he banked with NavyFed when he got there. They didn't let him get a joint account so he sent me his bank card. He told his RDC that he really needed to call me because he needed to see if I got the card because that was our only set of income. Thankfully his RDC pushed him to the front of the line in phone calls for that reason. Then over the phone he told me the pin code. Hope everything works out!! =)
