Peg, I don't know if you are overdoing it. But I sure look bad by comparison. Can you adopt me? My son loved boot camp food which tells you alot about my cooking.

Well, I just sent out box #3 yesterday. I know he has a fridge and microwave in his room - so, I bought some quick food he can microwave and eat. I sent him some kool-aid and capri sun packets, and little bottles of water. I got small snack packets of cookies and cheeze it crackers - Dan was in heaven...When I heard he didn't have much time to make it to eat, I had to do something :) LOL!!
I just sent him a few clothes also per his request....I think they are so happy to get anything from home...what do you all think?! Am I over doing the mother thing?! Peg

Feeling the pressure to do something nice for my son, I'm going to work on those cookies this weekend...hoping the 100 degree weather chills down before turning on that oven.

In our brief conversation last night, he just sounded stressed and was heading back for some evening classroom time. He is such a laid back kid for him to stress makes me believe the pressure to perform is on.

Thanks for the link on the Commander's Cup - I wonder if they receive a reward for the win? Extra liberty, first in line at the galley? Or ?

And since I've already made two posts in a row - I'll make it three. Did you see where the Wisconsin won the Commander's Cup Trophy? https://www.cnic.navy.mil/navycni/groups/public/@pub/@cnrmw/@greatlakes/documents/document/060608_glb.pdf Some of that mandatory fun, I'll bet.

Forgot to add - my mom (the grandmother) did send cookies - a LOT of them, because she said she knew he'd want to share. I told DS what she said, and he retorted that no, he did not want to share. Of course, he did. I heard him offer one to someone.

Cookies? That's what grandmothers are for. LOL Actually, our Sailor was the one that baked cookies at home...

Our son has been in the same ship throughout his school, although he did change rooms within the ship. He was scheduled to change ships, but put in a chit to stay, and it was granted.

LynnDear, your son's life is study, and our son says he has no life. I think they mean the same thing!

Oh my the pressure is on. I haven't sent cookies either. I did sent a NEX gift card that he uses to buy bottled water and Ramen Noodles. Now doesn't that sound delicious. Just talked to him last night. He sounds so tired. He says they must be back by 9pm every night because of the actions of a few. I have mixed feelings about that. :) He said his life is study. Also mixed reviews about his mandatory fun days. "I wish they would consider sleep fun". He is happy about the rank he is in. Feels that he is surrounded by intelligent people with goals and good work ethics. He rooms with another ET and FC. He loves lightening storms and thinks that they are pretty. So he was entertained recently. When he PIR'ed we were more afraid of snow. It is odd to have tornados so far north.

Oh the pressure!!! I haven't sent my son anything yet!! I must work on those peanut butter cookies soon!!! Actually we didn't feel comfortable mailing anything to him until he got settled into his current ship, he knew that he would be moving after SCC just didn't know how long it would take.

Last week he did ask for his digital camera so that was his first package and I did take time to include some photos of his dog and some lollipops from See's Candies so perhaps he will forgive me for lack of cookies!

He did tell me that he bought peanut butter and jelly recently as it can be a challenge to make it to the galley somedays depending on the classes/duty so perhaps sending some food might be a welcome site. I understand they have small kitchens between their rooms with a microwave and frid.

Hey Peg, I have sent my son some homemade cookies a few times and one of my friends who was his science teacher in the 8 th grade has sent him some movies and some popcorn. He said his roommates love the cookies. My son lost 20 pounds in BC and said he has lost another 10 . He said he is trying not to buy new uniforms until they do the switch over this fall, but his are getting pretty baggy. He weighs 190 now and is 5'11.
