Brendan's Mom - Welcome to the FIT family. Back in September (the week of 9/11) when I started posting on this forum I was pretty much alone at first then slowly more moms got the same news I did and they found this page. You are among some very supportive and knowlegeble ladies here.
I know it can be a bit daunting but I strongly suggest you read back as far as possible on this forum to help you understand how (as much as we know) the FIT program works and what you can expect while your recruit is there.
How much did your son miss his run by? That can determine (sort of) how long you can expect him to be there. When our son was placed in FIT he missed his PFA by 4 seconds so he was only there about 10 days total. Some of the recruits have a larger hurdle so they are there a bit longer. My son had nothing but good things to say about all the PO's and chief in FIT. He said that they work very hard with all the recruits to help them pass. There is a "chance" that you will get phone calls on Sundays but it is a slim chance.
My best advice to you is to stay strong and positive. This may be a very short road but there is a chance that it may be a very long road but either way it is just a small detour in your sons Navy career and he will succeed!!!
(((HUGS))) and welcome to the FIT family!!!

Sue, thank-you for the support. The N4M's site is such an awesome site, the mom's on it are great, I am so happy to have found it when my son was a Depper last year. I am just sorry more mom's don't take advantage of the wisdom and support that is on this site. Have a good Sunday. God Bless!

Brendan's Mom - I've sent you a friend request. Let me know if you need anything. I've been in this group a very long time since my son should have PIR'd 9/25. You are among a great group of ladies to help you through these uncertain times. Always, Sue

Hello everyone, just checking in. I had hoped not to recognize any names here. I will add your childrens names to my daily prayers and am counting on not seeing your names next time I check in. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, as you know my son was only in FIT for about a week. He has now gone through INDOC and is on hold for ATT. The dumb butt is sick again (still) it sounds like his pneumonia is back but he is , in his words, "too busy to see a doctor". At this point, while on hold, he is only doing busy work, cleanign and watches with lots of free time for Facebook in between.. He gets irritated at my insistance that he follow up with a doctor now, makes sense to me, why not get healthy before he begins his schooling. Letting go is tough isn't it? The need to mother extends long after they determine its not necessary or wanted.

Hello all, my son called today to say that he is being moved to the F.I.T division Monday as he has not been able to pass the running portion of the PFA. He was in Ship 11 Division 017 that is to PIR on 12/04/09. I am so glad for this group, thank-you all.

Casey got to make a call today to, he split it between his girlfriend and my parents. He said he loves being in the Navy but from what they said it sounds like he might be getting a little frustrated because he has not passed the run yet. My plan is to just keep sending letters telling him he can do it and that we believe in him. I will also be saying prayers for all our recruits and hoping that next week is the week for all our kids. My goal right now is to try and keep him positive. . . boy do I wish the mail was faster.

Caryns, when I spoke with Timothy on Veteran's Day he mentioned the same thing that he actually loved it when the Marine's came and worked them out. He also mentioned that when he was well enough he was the Head Laundry Officer and he liked it because he could do sit up and push ups plus exercise. He said they left him in the laundry room alone for hours at a time. This waiting is crazy on us Moms. I wish I knew why they did not run them more. I guess it's really out of our control and understanding. Hang in there Caryns and pray for the best. I will be saying prayers for your son as well as all the other recruits this weekend.

Sue, I got a call today as well. My son needs to pass the run. But it seems that by him being in FIT he doesn't seem to think that is helping him with his time. He says that he got more PT is the beginning of Basic than now. He is falling further behind now than before. I don't see why they are not doing more with them. My son actually said he wished that they could get Marine PT so he could hurry and get this behind him and move forward and boy I wish he could more forward. More for selfish reason number 1 so that I can see him. He has a run on Monday and then Wednesday if it is needed and is very bummed and concerned of the separation thing now approaching.

Good morning - no call for me today but he called his girlfriend for 40 minutes this a.m. I'm okay with that because we are very close and I've been telling her what to say to him (she is only 18 years old). Anyway, he said he was very upset about my last letter stating his Grandpa wanted to disown him. He said he spoke with his Petty Officer and he has re-thought the whole Islam thing. He said he is frustrated and exploring all religions and that he would still be celebrating Christmas and other Christian holidays. He takes his PFA on Monday so let's hope for the pass and getting him home for the holidays to get his head on straight.

Hoping others received a call today!

I don't understand why they wouldn't let them communicate with their family.
