Catie, my son had PIR ThAnksgiving week. He has had sub school and I think a class called ATT. He has one more class before he can start A school and that doesn't start til July. He's going to be a Radioman. I swear he will spend his Navy commitment in Groton.

catie,my son's PIR was 10/12/12.  He is just now starting A school for sonar tech.  Everything depends on when there is openings and what your son's job is going to be.  They told us he would be in Groton for about a year and it looks as if that is true.  He should be graduating from A school in Sept and then we will find out where he will be sent to.  We are very proud of him and miss him too.

My son was there about a month and a half before he started BESS but the holiday stand down was in effect for two weeks of that time. After BESS he has only had a week or two between schools. Right now he is finishing up TCHNO so we will see how long he has to wait for A school.

He says you don't know when your classing up until they call your name at muster :)

My son flew out of Hartford twice. (and he knew nothing about doing things on his own) They had the cheaper rates. I don't know anything about parking, though. The base has a shuttle that they can catch to either one.

My son's PIR was Oct 5th...(lost track of actual times in between)...and had his "last" graduation May 10th. He's headed for Kings Bay, GA now to start his sub life. :)

LaxDogsMom I have no idea of the timeline for BESS or A school I believe with sequestration they school may have then in a holding pattern in order to fill up the classes. We should know their orders on Friday.

Hi LaxDogsMom, my son's PIR was 4/26...and he started BESS May 5th...will graduate June 28th.  FYI...he's loving it! :)

Catie, I just found this page.  My son's PIR is 5/24 and he's in Division 928.  He too is going to Groton for BESS and A school for Sonar Tech.  I'm trying to get a better idea of timing for BESS and A School.  I'm seeing everything from 4 weeks to 8 weeks for BESS and that it might be a while before he actually begins school after he arrives in Groton.
