Anyone with a son stationed on a sub in Hawaii???

I posted this in "sub moms" but thought I would try here too. If you have a Sailor stationed on a sub in Hawaii and they are in port, maybe you could help us. My husband and I are going to Honolulu to visit our sailor on Sunday. Our CTT son will be deploying on various subs so he is not associated with one particular submarine. My husband (and me too) REALLY REALLY REALLY wants to tour a submarine while we are there. Our son has been trying to work this out for us, but no luck so far. I know this is a long shot but I thought I would give it a try. Does anyone have a son stationed on a sub in Hawaii AND is that sub in port? If so, I thought maybe that son could arrange a tour for us. If you will send me a private message, I will give you my son's name and phone number and your son could contact my son to make arrangements. THANKS to anyone who can help me out! I really appreciate it.

hi
It depends on the Caption of the sub
They have Triger sub trips
like when they are in Hawai'i and they take a short trip to SD in California.
but it all depends on the Capitan of the sub
also contact the Navy Sub office there in Hawi'ii .
On the Navy bases's there.

they might have some information

Enjoy your trip.

You can tour the USS Bowfin which is a sub museum. It is adjacent to the USS Arizona memorial..

We toured the Bowfin. It is a WWII sub, I think. Freaked me out for sure!!! We wanted to tour the new nuclear ones!!! :)

If you can get your son to get you on a sub, then that's fine. If you go through official channels and get to tour a sub, so be it. If you can get on a sub Tiger cruise, perfect. I wouldn't dream of asking my son to vouch for you. There are sensitive equipment on a sub. It cost hundreds of thousands to fix things. I won't even get into the issue of security. There are countries ramming up on the number of sub built. How do we know that you are not going to secretly take photos and sell them? I may be paranoid (probably got up on the wrong side of the bed) but this smells fishy.

I don't think it sounds fishy, just in a different situation than most. Son will deploy as part of an intel detachment on a sub. It will be difficult to obtain a tour of the sub being sponsored by a non crew member. It would be near impossible for you to tour your son's actual command if it is the one I think it is. Today's submarines have many off limits areas and you would likely experience the same thing on the Bowfin as you would get to actually see/do on one tied to the pier. Fascinating boats either way.

In AUGUST, I ask if anyone could help me out. Our son is a CTT3 stationed in Pearl Harbor. Our son deploys on various submarines - none of which were in port at the time of our visit or this would not have been a problem. He is not the "crew" of any particular sub. My trip is over. Someone just ask if we got to tour a sub and I responded. I do not need anyone to vouch for me and nothing fishy is going on! :) Since Captains allow tours and there are tiger cruises, I am sure the Navy takes care of security and checks out everyone - including me. I thought maybe another sailor could talk to his captain and then work things out with our son. Whatever.... As I said the trip is over.

My apologies. My son is a nuke officer on a sub. He really does not like it when things are out of the ordinary. He just does not want his guys to be distracted when they are working. He wouldn't even take his father and me on a tour!
