What fantastic ideas! We received a phone call this morning and talked for about 25 mins!!!! I really needed that! He sounds good. Work is up and down. Sometimes slow ... sometimes too much! Don't we know, huh?!

That's it. I'm gonna try the jar cake very soon. Tried them at the Gary Sinise - Operation Support Out Troups concert in Winfield, IL.

Great idea on the cereal! Thanks! Another thing Brian asked for was 3 place settings of real metal tableware. Don't know what they are eating with over there, smile. Hubby Bob went to Walmart and found a lovely packaged 4 place setting. I was real glad it was a flat rate box when we put int in the last box. Hey. now there's an idea to weigh down a box of cereal! Put in a note, "here's your cereal and a spoon to eat it with !" , LOL. I was always on Bri not to eat the cereal out of the box when he was growing up:))
Best,
Karen

Another thing they really like is sugary cereal we never wanted them to eat as kids. They munch on it during long drives to keep them alert. Not only did my sailor tell me that, but a marine, too. Don't send it flat rate though--you've got to pack five pounds worth of stuff in a flat rate to make it worth sending that way.

If candy , packaged snacks, jerky and such is getting expensive, check your local carnival or restaurant supply or candy company. We have one a couple towns over which is a candy company. They carry all the big quantities of candy at wholesale prices. it's a big thing here in western PA because we have so many local fundraisers and carnivals for the volunteer fire departments..

Karen

Hi Nancy Jean,
My son is Boots on the Ground with the Army in Poppyland. He called the other day and I told him that a bureaucrat in Washington had created a name for the IA/GSA's. Apparently it is "Sand Sailors". He thought the guy needed a life.
( he didn't quite phrase it that way, LOL!) My son drives things.
Best,
Karen

Hi Nancy Jean, Just list the generic title ofthe itemt. Red Vines as "Candy"; comics as "books"; anything wearable as 'clothing" etc. Round off the worth to the nearest dollar. Put in extra candy, it gets eaten quick! LOL,
Karen in western PA

When ever I sent packages over, I would just list the same....

Karen,
Nice pic! Boys and their guns, huh! Derrick is a Gunnersmate in the Navy, so anything that goes bang-bang, boom, KA-boom, zzzssssssss, or kills people, is his job! Yeah, I know. I told him I'll never sleep again!
How about your son?

I need help! My son just arrived in the sandbox and I'm sending a flat rate package with snack, etc. I don't remember how to list the 'stuff' inside. I put pre-packaged snacks, popcorn, hard candy, microwave dinner mix. Is that OK?
