My daughter is stationed at a British hospital in Helmand province working in the OR. She will be back in San Diego in November. She has been busy, so pray for our Marines.

Oh Ok, thanks. My son is a subdriver. He was on the USS Minneapolis St. Paul for 4 years and then in Hawaii when ti was decommissioned. Now he's been loaned out the the Army and is overseas. He gets home April 2010. I hope he gets another boat, he sure loved the Subs. I miss him and wish he were back Stateside so he could come and visit. Of the subdrivers available, there was 66% chance he would be chosen so he volunteered. He sent me a lovely olive wood jewelry box recently. I always bug him that I want presents. Local stuff from where he visits, smile.
Best,
Karen in PA.

OPSEC does apply, but as long as you don't use specific dates and places, you'll be fine. I can say that my son was stationed at a small camp south of the capital and then at the big base there. You can private message the entire group with more info, of course.

Giood to be here. How OPSEC is this list? Can we discuss anything or is everything in code?

Welcome, Karen! You are in the right place. We have all had or have a sailor serving with another military branch. My son returned in Dec from almost a year in Afg. as a gunners mate with the Army.

A message from Linda to all members of NAVY MOM COOKBOOK on Navy For Moms!

We have about 23 receipes and only 1 week before cutoff. I know that some people are going to get upset when they don't have a receipe in this cookbook. If you haven't added your receipe in the cookbook please go and do this now. This is for our sailors. Molly's adopt a sailor program does awesome things for all of them. If you have added your receipe and you haven't heard anything from me or one of the other ladies checking them then you are good to go. If you are still worried send me a PM and I will double check on it for you. I will send out another reminder before I give everyone else a chance to start adding again. If you have friends on this site that are not members please invite them over.

hugs to all
Linda

She can't use her phone card at the British hospital where she is assigned as their system is different than ours. So occasionally she has 20 minutes access to a patched phone call and there is a line behind her. Got another one of those calls today!!

That is wonderful, nothing like those phone calls with delays and all.

Got the 30 minute free call yesterday afternoon from A___________. There was a 4 second delay as she was patched through from the local airbase near here. It had been a wk and a day since I had heard her voice. I have mailed 2 "flat rate" boxes and have a 3rd ready to go out tomorrow. She sounded great. They have been busy in the OR.
