Thanks so much Pat for posting the e mails!!! I will show them to Cody's class. They made such nice cards. They will be excited to have a response. Count me in if you ever take on something like this in the future!!! :o)

This is the1st I heard about a Sailor being killed in Pensacola. This is one reason they advise the Sailors to travel w/ a buddy when leaving the base. I just googled this but there is no mention if the person/people who shot her were caught. Apparently she was jogging when she was shot. Their not sure if robbery was a motive. I've been to Corry twice when my daughter was there and it's not the nicest area so I don't think I would walk anywhere by myself. Hopefully they'll find whoever did this.

Does anything know the status of the murder of that young sailor that happened near Corry Station two weeks ago? I was wondering if they have found her killer yet, or if there are any (public) leads in the case? Are they restricting sailors to base or anything?

My son will be headed to Corry Station this spring and I've already warned him to be careful and stay on base.

This is ridiculous. Our servicemen expect to have to be careful in Iraq and Afghanistan. They shouldn't have to fear for their lives just blocks from their training base in the US!

Black Friday.. you mean National Shopping Day? Yeah, I participated, but made absolutely sure I had no more than $50 with me. We live 100 miles from the nearest mall but we were visiting relatives. So my daughter and I spent the day eating and buying little things we can't get in our isolated little town.

Donna, I left home at 7 am and was home by 12:00. I had fun! Not too long standing in lines. I got some good deals and usually fininsh my shopping but I have gifts yet to buy. I'm waiting for my nieces and nephew's lists!

Thanks, Pat, for passing along the e-mails. Our boxes may be Christmas gifts, but handing them out at Thanksgiving sounds like a great idea. You never know when someone needs a spiritual "lift" at the holidays!

I posted the emails I received from the PAO of the USS Nimitz and the USS Chosin

Ms. xxxxxxxx,

We were lucky enough to have a big replenishment of stores. Among that was a lot of mail. I received a grand total of 14 boxes today. Some were labeled “USS NIMITZ Holiday Project”; some had “Navy for Moms” on them; a couple did not have anything labeled on them and were not from anyone that I recognized as family of crew members. It came at a great opportunity as we have our Thanksgiving here tomorrow and this will be a great way to spread some joy to our crew here.

I appreciate the support of the organization and the thoughts supporting us and my shipmates out here during the holidays away from our families.

Warm Regards,
CMDCM(SW) John Ullery
Command Master Chief
USS CHOSIN (CG 65)
