wow!  loved the pictures!  and the two sailors home at the same time, Wonderful!

I did catch-up and made comments in my head (LOL) but can't remember much, realize I'm at work in a doctor's office and we've been closed since last friday.  Very busy.    we had a very relaxing weekend. hubby made fun of all my cooking, he said and we are suppose to be loosing weight?  but who doesn't have mashed potatoes and pork n grout for new years? and filet migon for new year's eve? and...and... LOL  we had salads, veg.and fruit and I didn't serve bread once! hubby did do one furnace call, but I went with him, roads were a mess!  we watched some movies and had massages......I don't know where the weekend went?!  we did get on each others nerves a couple times. LOL  bound to happen.  hubby ended up with a sinus cold yesterday and was misserable last night, he even set the alarm wrong and got up late this morning.  to my phone playing anchors aweigh!

And i love the fruit idea.  Now I just have to learn to love fresh fruit.  I just don't like it much. Fruit cups in juice?

I did a slow mile on my gazelle this morning.  Can we tell I'm a bit amped up?

MIssmom, I do use some whole wheat, but for many baked goods, I have to split 50/50 or the texture isn't good.  I do try for whole grains when I can, but they are difficult to bake with. I am going to make more cornbread and oat breads.

barb, I can see how it wouldn't work for eveyone.  I like the food tracker because I just punch in what I've eaten and it shows me the fat/protein/carb spread for the meal and day, and the calories.  I don't have to calculate a thing, just log it in, and most foods are already in there.  Heck, I think about food all the time anyway, so I may as well be thinking about what's going to be better choices!

Protein is hard for me, I can't have much dairy and no soy.  I shouldn't have an egg every morning, and breakfast meats are all very high in sodium and fat.  I need some creative ideas!  Peanut butter?

Morning all- it is only 15degrees here, but bright sun...brrr.

I will check out the spark site, but am at the point where I have to do what I think works for me.  And keeping track of calories or writing down everything I eat-I just think of food all day long and am more hungry than ever.  Did weight watchers and do watch what/amount of what I eat; am trying to give up the bad snacks and keep up with the exercise.  Gained 5 lbs over the holidays, which I was ok with & that is what I hope to lose in January.     Let you know how that goes.
Here's a interesting tip I just read recently-  if you eat fruit with each meal, your craving for sweets will go away & you will be able to conquer your chocolate/sweets addiction!

navymom3, I think keeping track of your food is actually what works!  If I know if I have to write it down, I will think twice about putting it in my mouth.  I have done Weight Watchers and the only way that works for me is tracking.  I use to say that it was having to pay to weigh, but that didn't work.  When you start keeping up with how many calories we actually eat in a day, it is shocking!

I had a nice phone call from my Sailor this morning and I have actually nicknamed him "my coach".  He is very encouraging and gives me all kinds of advice on good food choices.  Although he had a really good laugh when I was telling him that I had found an organic oatmeal that I really like.  He said Mom, "you can't get much more organic than oatmeal"!  He said that all oatmeal is natural.   He was very happy that I gave up my diet mt. dew!    I am very excited to get back in the gym today, haven't been since last Thursday, so I am ready to start the New Year out right!

I made some banana nut bread out whole wheat flour, my daughter loved it, me...not so crazy about it.   I guess the whole wheat thing is an aquired taste.

AntiM. do you use whole wheat flour?

I love tortillas, but I've moved on to whole grain ones at home.  I've tried to make them, but I just don't have the touch!

MissMom, Ya I was pretty shocked myself I could keep up with a 16m old..

I didn't logg into spark bad me I know. Ramon was home from work today we don't have much junk in the house. But tortillas & bread is something that I know must go I just do not feel full if a meal does not consist of that.

Stevia is good I have some of that and I got the box for like 1.25 on sale & with coupons woo hoo..

Soda's I can give those up if it's not a real full of calorie soda I can't drink it. except black cherry fresca are those considered diet?

Here we see lot's of men & women in uniform the DM Air Force base is in Tucson. I always make sure to thank them as they walk by I've even gotten Ramon into the habit, just seeing that look of appreciation when you say it is priceless..

I have tried the MIO and I do like them.  I just misplaced it in the kitchen LOL.

I also joined the spark page. My sailor leaves on wed morning so I will start my exercise on wed. I did log my food for today. I know it will help me not eat to much. Because when I logged what I ate today then looked at the calories it is kinda shocking. I know what not to eat that I ate today. On to a new year of better opportunities and a healthier life.

AntiM, have you tried the MIO flavors for water?   I can drink just water with no problem, however, my hubby and daughter have bought these and love them.   I will add a couple of drops to mine if handy.    My hubby really likes the mango/peach flavor.   I did get my Spark page set up tonight, and have logged all of my meals and snacks.   This too helps me not to overeat.   I didn't do any exercise today, our gym was closed for New Years and it was just too cold to do anything outside.  I plan to work out the rest of the week.
