Good morning all, thank you Kristy for your prays for our Lakelady. She is doing very well and my daughter is with her again this week helping her get ready for Thanksgiving feast. She is driving again but just tires easy. I told her to just take a break when she gets tired and go again when she is ready.
I know how you feel about your grandson not coming home for the holiday. We are still praying that Steven is going to get to come home even if for new years as they will be going out to sea the first of the year.
Amanad keep those letters going to your brother he is going to be needing them for sure. I am glad he is doing well and even happier that you will get to go to his PIR it will be one of the most amazing things you will ever experience in your life. My son has been in since he graduated in 07. We live in Gardner I am sure you will know that little town if you live in SOJO. He is on a carrier the USS Carl Vinson. Does your brother know what he will be doing after boot camp. Will he go to A school in FL or what?
I am up for a gathering in Jan. I would love to meet some of you all. I had to work when you had the last little get together.
Hope everyone has a wonderful and safe holiday. Talk to your sailor if you can not be with them. We love them all!
Mom of a granson of a sailor man.

Great to hear that your brother is doing so well. Glad to hear that you got to talk to him as well. As much as it made your day to hear from him it was equally for him.

Awesome Amanda! A phone call already - that is great!

I got a phone call from my brother today and it totally made my day! :D I knew he would call my mom if he had a chance, but I really wasn't expecting him to call me! We talked for about 20 minutes. He said he was doing well and really enjoying boot camp. He sounded great! He said to keep sending him letters as that is his favorite time of day. :)

Also a good idea is save the letters you get some day they will be good memories to share. They can look back and see how far they have come.
Last night I finally stopped and booked our flight to go see our sailor for Christmas. Got a good deal on the tickets and makes the wait even worse. haven't spent and Christmas with him since he went in almost 5 years ago. he will also have his little boy for some of the time. Hubby has never even met his grandson and he will be 2 on thanksgiving. So it will be a great Christmas.

My daughter left for GL yesterday she signed for Seabee HEO, we live in Haysville (south of Wichita). Recieved the 10 second phone call, and wrote my first letter to her. I plan to keep track on what she will be doing week to week and ask questions about her experience at BC.

Thanks Terry! Hopefully he will enjoy seeing all his messages when he gets a chance. I sent him two letters today. A little over a month left!

Amanda -- go right ahead and leave him those messages! He will enjoy them when he gets a chance. And continue to write as often as you can. They need a great deal of support while they are at GL - and letters is their only communication. We are happy to share this ride with you!

He has been at Great Lakes since 10/29 and I have written him 4 times. We just got his address about a week ago. Not too bad considering I have a 5 year old and 4 year old twins at home! LOL. I just got my first letter from him today and I was so happy! He sounds like he is really doing well! I wasn't sure what to expect but he actually gave me quite a bit of info and it sounds like he is really adjusting well. I am going to PIR and I can't wait! We had talked about it before he left so I knew I would be one of the 4 people, but I was still relieved to hear that he had listed me on the form letter. I am counting down the days until I get to see him again! We had kind of a messed up childhood but he has always been my closest family member. It has been kind of hard not being able to pick up the phone and call him. He didn't sign out of his IM on his cell phone when he left which just about killed me. He is going to think I am crazy when he does finally get his phone back and sees how many messages I have left him! LOL

Amanda, we are glad you are here. Your brother is lucky to have you supporting him and being a cheer leader for him. Are you writing him often? Are you going to PIR? Again we are glad you are here.
